| Harmor07-13-04, 12:31 AM | I have a set of cursed Boots of Speed. The curse -10 to Strength and -10 to Constitution and cannot be removed. Our cleric cast Remove Curse so I was able to take the item off, but still have the minus to Strength and Constitution (which can be removed with a Remove Curse + Heal) The curse portion of the item is just like this item: Robe of Powerlessness: A robe of powerlessness appears to be a magic robe of another sort. As soon as a character dons this garment, she takes a –10 penalty to Strength and Intelligence, forgetting spells and magic knowledge accordingly. The robe can be removed easily, but in order to restore mind and body, the character must receive a remove curse spell followed by heal. Moderate transmutation; CL 13th; Craft Wondrous Item, bestow curse, permanency; Price 5,500 gp. 1. How do I remove the cursed effects from the boots exactly? 2. How much exactly would it cost? I have the Craft Wondrous Item feat and am a Level 12 Wizard. |
| Sphyre07-13-04, 04:34 AM | I'd say it would be one of these two items - if doable at all 1) The difference in cost of the cursed item and the item that it's supposed to be. Cursed items with greater gold costs than the item it is have too strong of a curse to be removed without destroying the entire item. 2) The gold cost of buying the item as if it were uncursed, which kind of defeats the purpose of uncursing it in the first place. I don't see it being anything where one could make a profit by removnig a curse. Some curses are just magic gone wrong while creating it. But, by the rules, there is no way to remove a curse from an item. |
| tarkin07-13-04, 11:11 AM | I would let a Wish do it, but cost you the appropriate amount of XP. Basically it should NOT be a good idea to try and do. |
| Beamup07-13-04, 11:14 AM | You don't. |
| Zherog07-13-04, 12:06 PM | I would also allow Wish to do what you want, as Tarkin suggested. |
| Seeker9507-13-04, 12:28 PM | Use remove curse to separate you from your curse. Destroy the item. If you allow wish to do it, I would stick with the same restrictions tarkin suggested. Curses are made for a reason. :D |

| Strange Charm07-13-04, 09:00 PM | Go on a little mini-quest to find a spellcaster with the power to "uncurse" magic items. Hire the spellcaster to uncurse the boots. Unless, of course, your group just wants the glory of uncursing the boots yourself. Well, a rod of negation and a targeted disjunction spell would definitely uncurse the boots. However, these effects would remove any other magical abilities along with the curse. Yes, they certainly made it hard to separate the curse from a cursed item. |
