Can I carry the 'materials' with me? 1) 1 day per 1000gp in the market value. 2) if you had the proper facilities, yes .. 3) no .. you need proper facitilites, tooks, inks, materials, etc. 4) yes ... but not the lab ... |
| primemover00308-16-04, 10:45 AM | All Magic items take 1 day minimum (8 hours of work). So you couldn't scribe scrolls while adventuring. You need down time. |

I woudl say that you cannot scribe a scroll, or make any other magic item, on any day in which you are actively adventuring versus traveling. I allow my players to scribe scrolls and make potions (but not more complex item creations) when traveling if they are: A. Traveling on a ship. (+5 DC) B. Traveling on a wagon that they need not control. (+10 DC) C. Traveling via rail (see Eberron). (No adjustment) However, each of these requires a spellcraft check as well. DC = 10 + spell level + Travel adjustment. Make the check, and you make the item*. Fail the check, and the item is ruined, along with the money (and experience, except I don't use experience points). As other travel methods enter into my campaign, I will assess travel adjustments for these as well. I can imagine an airship would probably be treated the same as a ship. *Note: I permit multiple scrolls and potions in a single day, up to a max total of 8 or 1000gp. If making multiple items, you must roll for each item. |
