| Harmor09-11-04, 10:49 AM | I can't believe this item doesn't already exist. I would hope its already in some book somewhere. I modeled this item after a set of Gloves of Arrow Snatching. If not then: Bracer of Arrow Deflection: This item appears to be wrist or arm guard. Once snugly worn, this bracer gives the wielder the ability to use the Deflect Arrows feat twice per day, even if he does not meet the prerequisites for it. Only one bracer need to be worn and wearing a second does not gain any benifit or additional times per day to use the ability Deflect Arrows. The bracer must be worn on an arm that is free to move, so you can wear it on your weapon arm or on an arm with a buckler, but not with a shield larger than a buckler. You may wear a bracer while wielding a two-handed weapon. Faint abjuration; CL 3rd; Craft Wondrous Item, shield; Price 2,000 gp. [EDIT]I'm not sure about the price...I lowered it from 4,000 gp because its not as useful as Gloves of Arrow Catching which would allow you to actually throw the weapon back. What do you guys think? Can we say Wonder Woman? [EDIT]Increased the price to 3,000gp. I'll make a new thread with the Bracer of Arrow Protection. |
| Seeker9509-11-04, 02:47 PM | If you're going to drop the price at all, I'd make it only 3,000gp. The gloves may let you do both things (avoid and return), but the avoidance is of greater value than being able to throw it back. Other than that is seems okay. However... there is a 2nd level spell called protection from arrows; rather than trying to emulate the Feat, I would recommend just using the spell. It grants DR 10/magic against ranged weapons. I'd use this instead, adding the implication that it only works against the first 10 points of ranged weapon damage in any given round, rather than a constant DR10. The spell indicates it ends after 10 points, so this would match the original spell mechanic. Total price: 12,000gp. Either way you go, it is odd that it hasn't been created before! |
