| Harmor10-07-04, 05:08 PM | I think I asked this before, but don't recall the answer: Is a Pearl of Power for 0th level 250gp or 500gp? Thanks. |
| Craque10-07-04, 05:13 PM | Taking the standard convention that 0th level spells are 1/2 for most considerations, and the pearl of power cost formula of level^2 * 1000 gp, I would have to say 250 gp ((1/2)^2 * 1000) |
| Seeker9510-07-04, 06:50 PM | Calculate the price for a 1st level pearl of power. Cut that in half. |
| Harmor10-07-04, 11:24 PM | Which is it? You both just gave me both costs. |
| Filibik10-07-04, 11:43 PM | Hehe... if we gave out the answer, the universe would fall apart!!! ;) |
| Dungeon Master's Pillow10-07-04, 11:43 PM | 250. It takes into account the squared portion of the equation. |
| Jaerom Darkwind10-08-04, 12:41 AM | 250 gp. It takes advantage of a flaw in the calculation system (the fact that a fraction squared is smaller than the fraction itself), but is nevertheless 100% legit. |
| Seeker9510-08-04, 09:34 AM | Not 250. It is 500. Level squared x 1000 = 1 x 1 x 1000 = 1000gp. Divid that by 2. 0-Level spell-based items are half the price of a 1st level spell-based item. You don't work the formula at .5 -- you divide the 1st level total by 2. |
| tarkin10-08-04, 11:16 AM | 1) There is no such thing as an official Pearl of Power 0 level. As you are creating the item, you can price it however you want. You could rule it costs 5,000 gp, or 10 gp. 2) Given the pricing convention is Spell Level: A 0-level spell is half the value of a 1st-level spell for determining price. It does not say "treat it as a spell of level 0.5". It says it is 1/2 the value. As such, 1/2 of 1,000 is 500 gp. |
| Jaerom Darkwind10-08-04, 12:47 PM | While that phrasing is somewhat ambiguous, I believe that they have the correct interpretation. So it would be 500 gp, not 250. |
