| Harmor03-08-04, 03:33 AM | We found a cursed item that we want to try to remove the negative affects, but keep all the other affects. Is this possible? |
| smrtgmp03-08-04, 03:39 AM | I would allow a wish to do this. I cant think of another spell off the top of my head that would accomplish this task. You could always research you're own spell that removed only the curse from said item. |
| Harmor03-08-04, 04:19 AM | Well I was thinking what if you could use the same Meta Magic Feat and just pay the cost to add "Remove Curse" to the item or whatever spell to nullify the effect? For example: An item has "Bestow Curse" embued in it. If you add "Remove Curse" at a 1.5 cost multiplier it would remove the item's curse affect??? Would that make sence? |

Makes sence to me, provided you can make the caster level check to overcome the Bestow Curse. |
| Everach03-08-04, 09:39 AM | Depends on the nature of the curse. Was this item built as a cursed item, or did it become cursed after some event. Example: Wizard_B builds a ring of clumsiness. It looks like a ring of feather fall, acts like a ring of feather fall, oh and you take a huge dex penalty and can't remove the ring. Can you remove the cursed aspects of this ring? Yes, but its cheaper to build a new ring of feather fall. Same goes with all of the cursed items in the DMG. Example2: Wizard_A builds a mighty sword +3 of doom. Paladin_C uses the sword to defeat a Balrog, but the sword is now tainted with the Balrog and cursed as a sword -2. Can you remove this curse? Heck yeah. You might have a cool little quest to find an archon or deva to clense it for you even. Summary: Ask your DM if this item was cursed as a result of something or if a sadistic wizard made it this way. Let him know what you want to do and he should be accomodating. |
| Harmor03-08-04, 08:44 PM | The stats in the item (from memory): +4 Strength (Bull's Strength) +4 Constitution (Bear's Endurance) +4 Deflection bonus Curse: wearer's wisdom is reduced to 2, but is not affected for purposes of resisting spells. The wearer is insane and will continually attack the nearest target until its dead. The bracers can be removed if the wearer is unconcious. The +4 deflection bonus alone is worth it!!! My wizard hasn't had time yet to research the item so I'm not even sure I can remove the curse. |
| Tsuul03-08-04, 11:26 PM | Just looking at what it gives, it kinda sounds like the item was built like that. So don't yell too much at your DM when he tells you all your efforts to remove the penalties fail. |
