Has anyone made or found any stats for the Swords of Power from Saberhagen's Books of Swords? I used to have the stats from AD&D, but cannot find them.

These would all be Major Artifacts.

I'm thinking +5 or +6 Keen Ghost Touch Bastard Swords plus each one has a special ability.

The 12 Swords are:
Coinspinner, the Sword of Chance
Doomgiver, the Sword of Justice
Dragonslicer, the Sword of Heroes
Farslayer, the Sword of Vengeance
Woundhealer, the Sword of Mercy
The Mindsword
Shieldbreaker, the Sword of Force
Sightblinder, the Sword of Stealth
Soulcutter, the Tyrant's Blade
Stonecutter, the Sword of Siege
Townsaver, the Sword of Fury
Wayfinder, the Sword of Wisdom

Check out this (http://www.textfiles.com/anarchy/WEAPONS/gal-weap.d&d) link, and do a search for "saberhagen". They're not 3.5 stats, but they're a place to start.

There was a thread on the Epic Level Handbook board about 8 months ago, called "Swords the Gods would fear". Do a search on that; if it hasn't been lost to the prune monster, you ought to enjoy the results.

[ Edit: found it. Swords the Gods would fear. (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=72594) ]

We can always work out the stats again in this thread. I'm always interested to see how people convert things to DnD terms in different ways.

Speaking of which, I'm curious as to why you decided on the Ghost Touch ability for the Swords. I can't recall any scenes in which they were used against something incorporeal.

I've thought about this myself although I never did finish the series. But yea..why Ghost Touch?
Some would be pretty easy (like Wayfinder) but some would be pretty tough to really do right...like Coinspinner.

Oh my god I'd forgotten all about Townsaver! what was its power again?
Oh and Aramas just FYI the Mindsword's other title was The Sword of Glory :-)

When Townsaver's wielder is fighting to defend a "town", he gains awesome power to destroy the town's attackers. Unlike Shieldbreaker, Townsaver confers no power to defend its wielder, and since Townsaver won't let its wielder stop fighting, its use results in a lot of glorious self sacrifice. The sword doesn't seem to allow its wielders to die, no matter how badly wounded they are, until the threat to the town is ended.

We don't see a lot of Townsaver, because Vulcan destroyed it with Shieldbreaker early on in the series.

Ahhh yes I remember now. It was sort of like Shieldbreaker Lite. The Dragonslayer guy died using it if I remember?
Lord that was a long time ago...I need to re read them and actualy finish the series some day...

I think it only got used in the First Book, and the poor schmuck died pretty horribly in a valiant self-sacrifice.

It also got used (very briefly) in the Third Book, but its brave wielder was no match for Vulcan and Shieldbreaker.

Here is a 2e version of the Swords done by Sean K. Reynolds. (He says he will update it to third edition "soon" -- two years ago!)

And here is a 3e version (linked directly to the .rtf file)

As to why Ghost Touch, the demons of Saberhagen's world are incorporeal and I thougth that several people used the Swords against demons.

So, drop the Ghost Touch if it's not applicable ( I'm re-reading the series now), but they are all definitely Adamantine.

After reading some of these links I'm going to try my hand at designing the Swords. I'll start with +6 Keen Adamantine Bastard Swords.

I don't remember the swords being used against demons; after all, their lives were kept seperate from their bodies, and they couldn't be killed until the items that held their lives were destroyed. Emperor's Children could "turn" demons by invoking the Emperor's name, but that's about all I can remember about demon combat. Perhaps the Swords' powers, rather than the Swords themselves, were used against the demons at one point?

And I'll gladly help you stat the swords again, if you like.

i was under the impression that demons had the option to take physical form, and were then subject to assault. of course, their lives were no more or less durable than the chosen containers...

i thought the swords were unusually light for their size, perhaps mithril would be more appropriate?

Townsaver defended the defenseless; the town was optional. wasnt there a swamp scene? of course, anyone carrying a great big sword doesnt qualify as 'defenseless' ... so the wielder was on his own. Its defensive capabilites were comparable to Shieldbreaker, but in offense it wasnt much more than a big sword. one of its drawbacks, the strength-draining, was also comparable to Shieldbreaker, if i recall correctly.

excellent series, ill have to reread it myself.

Townsaver's powers came into play whenever it was used to defend unarmed people. The town was definately optional. Townsaver didn't have any defensive powers, it was all offence. It did grant it's wielder a version of Deathless Frenzy, in that the wielder couldn't die while in combat but once combat was over the full effects of his wounds was felt.

The swords were not described as unusually light for their size, and they are definitely bastard swords. Most of the characters used them two-handed with a few (those that hand EWP: Bastard Sword perhaps) using them one-handed.
