3rd level Illusions [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-14-05, 11:57 PM Playing a gnome illusionist (with the Unearthed Arcana "Illusion Mastery" variant, which grants me two free illusion spells "every time gain a level that grants access to a new spell level") with gnomish illusionist substitution levels from Races of Stone, which reduces the level of some spells; most notably, [i]Illusory Script and Major Image are now 2nd level spells for me, and Illusory Wall is 3rd. All in all, this leaves me with a minor dilemma.

When I gain 5th level, I gain 2 spells in my spellbook, one of which must be an illusion spell (1). Since I gain access to a new spell level (3rd), this also grants me two more free illusion spells (+2=3). At 7th level, I'll gain two more, one of which must be an illusion spell (+1=4). The problem is this:

After the adjustments from the gnome illusionist substitution effect, There are only 3 3rd level [Wiz] illusion spells: Displacement, Invisibility Sphere, and Illusory Wall. I know I could always just take some of my free spells at lower-than-maximum level, and that's what I'll do if I can't find some other 3rd level illusion spell. But I'd still rather cheese out the most value from my free spells.

So, after being so long-winded, my question is: What non-PHB 3rd level illusion spells do you guys know of?

06-15-05, 12:13 AM I like Phantom Guardians (Races of Destiy), Vertigo (check the Far Corners of the World on this site), and Reality Blind (Book of Vile Darkness) my self.

All of them can come in handy in 99% of things.
