If a person strikes a creature that has damage reduction which is only pierced by epic weapons, using a +4 or +5 with the bane ability against the creature's type, will that penetrate the creature's damage reduction (bearing in mind that the Bane ability adds +2 to the weapon's enhancement bonus against creatures of its selected type).

I would rule No. (Have no source to back me up, just me.)

Regular Bonuses above +5 are epic, but not everything that grants more than a +5 bonus is Epic.

To negate the DR Epic, you need an actual epic enchantment, not just a +6. obtained from Bane.

"A few very powerful monsters are vulnerable only to epic weapons; that is, magic weapons with at least a +6 enhancement bonus."

Against the creature in question, your weapon has an effective +6 enhancement bonus.

No problem.

As Hyp pointed out it goes through just fine.

Yes, I believe it is how it should be.

After all, if you have +4 weapon (quite powerful), and specialized to kill this one type of beings, you should be able to punch through thier DR.

Looking as Solar and Tarrasque are in core rules, where normal bonus is limited to +5, and they have /epic DR...

Besides it's cool if you invest in specific foe slaying weapon, and it actually do work !

I would say it depends on the way it was created. I am loath to allow somebody to bypass epic DR without involving somebody with craft epic arms and armour and paying the *10 cost.

I would allow an epic crafter to create the item including the *10 price for an epic item to create it so it could bypass epic DR for that creature type.

If created any other way you do not.

Thus +4 bane non epic is worth 50000gp
+4 bane epic is 500000gp
+6 weapon is 720000gp

This is a house rule. I cannot see what the actual rule would be.
