Ok, well here it is. I want to make a fighter/divine emissary that will take the persistant metamagic feat. He's a worshipper of Kord and has taken the Strength domain. Ok, so here's the deal, eventually he can give himself 4 kinds of damage reduction.

3/- . . . . . . . . .adamantine full plate
10/magic . . . . .class ability
5/evil . . . . . . . righteous might (persistant)
10/adamantine . stoneskin (when needed)

Now how do I handle all that DR? Does it all stack or do I just take the highest one they don't beat? Any information would be very useful.

Take the highest one they can't beat.

page 292 in the 3.5 DMG states you get the benefit of the best damage reduction. No, they do not stack.

Against normal opponents, you have a DR of 10. (Debaitable, but since stoneskin is a spell effect, I'd put it as taking the hit before the class ability feature. YMMV.)
Against someone with a non-magical adamantine weapon, you have DR 10/magic.
Against someone with a magical weapon, you have DR 10/adamantine.
Against someone with a magical adamatine weapon, DR 5/evil
Against someone with a magical admantine weapon of evil... DR 3/-

as the PCs & monsters increase in LVs & CRs, wouldn't DR #/magic become virtually useless, since even someone's spit is consider magical by higher LVs?

It depends. Being hit by a salvo of darts, each coated with Deathblade, and having them all tink off your skin, is rather useful.

I was hoping adamantine armor would stack with one of those. I guess I figured 3/- was so wierd that it would....

It does kind of seem like DR X/- should stack with other DR, since it generally represents overall toughness or general protection. Think about it, isn't a high-level already damage-resistant barbarian that gets magic DR going to be tougher than a non-damage-resisting guy that gets the same magic DR?

As far as I know, the 3/- DR WILL STACK, but with other X/- DR (like from barbarian).
It will NOT stack with 10/magic or 5/evil though.

I think they should let the DRs stack. You can create very dynamic monsters that way. It'd also bump up th eammount of DR to get through. As it is just getting a high enhcantment on your weapon will eat up most of the DR even if your aren't bypassing it.
