I need a 5th level bard spell, something other than what's in the player's handbook, and besides "Wail of Doom" and "Song of Dischord". Please include the full description. Thanx.

Problem with posting the full description is that it will have to come from an Open Game License source (or be a homebrew spell).... so if you don't get a load of responses, that may be why.

As for the Core spells, there are a few ones worth considering (or reconsidering):

mass cure light wounds: sure, you're not the cleric, but it's still d8+13 or more healing to every party member and ally (not to mention pinging undead), and it potentially frees up a cleric's action this round to throw down something like destruction or holy word.

greater dispel magic: sure, you're not the mage, but your greater dispel is just as potent as his if you are the same level

mass suggestion: sure, your bardsong can suggest, but only one target at a time, and that's not really viable in combat; this nails a whole clump of critters, meaning that you're likely to affect at least some of them, and in combat to boot

Here are a couple of really cool ones from The Far Corners of the World Archive, though they're only level 4. I'll look through my other books tonight and see what else I can come up with for you.

Mind Fog is brilliant for setting anyone up to be charmed or for suggestion or whatever and has a decent after the spell duration (2d6 rounds). A good tactic for this one is to use Silent Image to create an illusion of Obscuring Mist first, then when the Mind Fog comes, they'll charge right into it...

But you need to focus on Enchantments to have a terrific DC for the save.

Improvisation is pretty decent too, 28+ points to distribute pretty much however you'd like for the next 14+ rounds....

YMMV
