hey i just thought of something, if you used chain spell on dancing blade(spell and feat both from complete arcane), you could animate 21 swords

if you take 10 levels eldritch knight and take practiced spellcaster, your BaB gives you 3 attacks for each sword

which adds up to (assuming you have 21 greatswords, which can be accoplished through the leadership feat or a very hih strength score/bag of holding ect....) 21 attacks at +15 bonus, 21 attacks at +10 bonus, and 21 attacks at +5 bonus(all attacks dealing 2d6 damage critical 19-20/x2)

add that to your normal full attack and thats 66 attacks a round, through in a scroll of ashstar or bloodstar and thats game (granted due to relatively low attacl bonuses this is mostly useful for clearing dozens of killfodder enemies at a time or sundering enemy weapons), but with that many attacks your sure to hit even high ac enemys a few times per turn....

and to make it yet more insane, imagine doing it with gargantuan/collossal greatswords... thats at least 4 or 5d6 per hit(don't have my DMG with me at the moment), granted you can haul around swords that large, but its feasible with a large or possibly even huge weapons.

throw in a chained magic weapon next round and your swords have a +5 enhancement, or just animate another 21 swords....seems pretty insane to me :D

Note you have to be a Wu Jen to have Dancing Blades (and lvl20 at that). They have all sorts of weird spells. Also note that you have to have an infinite supply of followers, since the weapon stops dancing when the creature dies.

I have to quote Order of the Stick on this one: "Counterspell!"

you make all of the sword dance around you, theres no rule saying they can't...by the follower i mean they carry the sword and drop them when combat begins.

and you don't have to be a 20th level wu jen to use this... at wu jen 5, eldritch knight 9 (CL 14) you are able to cast this spell...i merely used character level 20 to show the combo at it's most potent(at 14th level you animate 15 swords, and with a BaB of +11 they each get up to 3 attacks(granted the last is at a +1 bonus))

as for counterspell: the same goes for any spell...and keep in mind that spellcasting enemies are a rare breed(or at least far less common then non-spellcasters), your not going to be fighting a spellcaster enemy every combat, and even when you do they don't just use every single turn preparing a counterspell action...and even if they do they might fail any of the checks involved. In short the possibility of counterspell isn't nearly the inhibitor necessary to kill this combo(or for that matter most spell combos/spells)

I'd say it would work, as dancing blade fits all the requirements to be chained. And spell turning wouldnt do a thing, as the spell targets the swords, not an enemy.

Thats a pretty filthy idea. Good stuff.

edit: just noticed you said counterspell, not spell turning. woops.
