on magic and eq. I want a hand crossbow of distance<unless someone can recommend something better>, a drow house insignia (levitate), and a piwafi(cloak of elvenkind)

that's
2400 for the corssbow
2160 for the insignia and
2500 for the piwafi
------
7060

so I have 1940 left which includes mundane items.

We are going to be in the underdark.

Keep it for the Resurection spell, or the funeral, whichever. :)

Just make sure you have lots of ammo, other than that it's really hard to say without knowing about your character.

Save the whole lot of it, and earn 3000gp more. Then buy a Rod of Wonder. Best item evar.

What type of character? Can somebody in your party craft items? How prepared for every situation do you want to be? I'd get some rope and some torches and food and water or something. You can't go wrong with a concealed dagger. Check out this thread: Here (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=162312)

Insectile Drow fighter, the only other characters I know are going to be a dwarven fighter and an orog fighter, unsure if anyone will be able to craft anything, we'll only all be level 5 <effectively... damn LAs>
I will not be bringing any torches or rope, the rothe I am leading around can bring that, and I may just go for ring of sustenance so they can bring thier own food too.

So...pretty standard party then. Good, I thought this might be another wacked out group of munchkins and joy-riders asking for advise.

+1 armor costs 1000gp. You didn't mention having a cleric or bard in the party, so a bandoleer of healing potions wouldn't be a bad idea.

Heward's handy haversack and a circlet of persuasion are both nice little items, but they're in the 2000gp range.

Have fun storming the castle!

alright, I went with the ring of sustenance, haversack, house insignia, and a bandoleer of poisoning <drow knockout> (I put the price on the bandoleer at 1800, same as quiver of elhonna<sp?> too low maybe?). The bandoleer coats a bolt with the poison when it is placed into one of the 12 spaces for 10 rounds.

This item is creating poison from nothing, in a relatively unlimited amount.

Poison is a 3rd level druid spell (the most direct means of creating poison), placing this item closer to a 30,000gp item. Making it take 10 rounds doesn't really affect game play much since it is assumed you load the bandolier at the beginning of the day and reload it between combat. Unless you have ultra-fst-paced games, there is well more than a minute (10 rounds) between encounters.

I can't imagine ever allowing this, let alone trying to price it.

This creates poison out of nothing. The quiver of Elhonna only stores things - doesn't create anything. Hope your not confusing it with the "Quiver of endless arrows," which doesn't exist.

I can only hop eyou're discussing this item with your DM. Because they shouldn't allow it either.

How much does Drow knock-out poison cost, anyhow? You relaize you have a percentage chance to knock yourself out, every round you use it right?

How about a cloak of resistance? Frequent life-saver, it is.

A +1 Bolt of Bane (humanoids, elf) would cost 167gp. Buy 10 of those.

With my Craft: Poisonmaking skill the poison costs me 25gp per dose and with the Poison Use feat I have no chance of accidentally poisoning myself. Both are from Plot & Poison
