Enlarge lets you increase your size by a max of 100% but doesn't stack with other magical effects now since your large size is due to the fact that you are a larger creature can you enlarge yourself? I thinks yes, because your new size from polymorph self is due to the inherent fact that th creature you chose to turn into is larger and thus its not really a magical effect for the terms of the enlargement spell. however thats my opinon. |
| Sheer_FALACY02-21-04, 08:17 PM | Polymorph is still an effect. It is polymorph that is changing your size; the spell does that because it is trying to make you be a larger creature. |
| DragonWatcher02-21-04, 08:19 PM | Right... Well, according to 3.5 (which is all that I have access to ATM), Polymorph allows you to change into any creature on the given creature type list. The only size limitation is that it cannot be smaller than Fine. There is no longer an upper limit. However, since Polymorph in 3.5 has a duration, and is dispellable, I would say that the size is due to a magical effect (the polymorph spell), and you could not use enlarge to make it bigger. However, Baleful Polymorph is a permenant spell, and therefore I would say that you could use enlarge on the subject of a baleful polymorph spell. I hope that this helps. |
| Lokiyn02-21-04, 08:28 PM | Well the way i'm looking at it is that you are now that base creature for all intents and purposes and also that enlargent does not stack with other magical effects that produce a magicall enlargment. Polymorph produces a transformation into another creature that the size increase is a natural side effect of. |
| DragonWatcher02-21-04, 08:34 PM | Hrmm... I assume that you're still using 3.0. In 3.5 the Enlargement spell has been replaced by Enlarge Person, which only works on a humanoid. This would generally negate any chance of doing what you are proposing. That said, if you changed into another type of Humanoid... I would say that you could then enlarge yourself. As far as the 3.0 spells... I'm not really sure. Sorry I couldn't be more help. |
| Thomar_of_Uointer02-21-04, 11:34 PM | Here's what it boils down to: IT DOESN'T STACK There were 4 articles on stacking on the DnD website a while ago. |
| Lokiyn03-22-04, 07:36 PM | Stacking? what the.. the question is not so much as stacking bonus's because it says in the spell it doesn't stack. however the question is if the polymorph size increase is an ENLARGMENT bonus or a transformation bonus |
| fruits and vegetables03-23-04, 02:28 AM | Originally posted by Thomar of Uointer IT DOESN'T STACK Yup. Stop overanalyzing. It does not stack unless you houserule it that way. |
| Bopple03-23-04, 02:54 AM | Is there any humanoid creature of large size or bigger? If not, it is of no use, anyway. For it is Enlarge Person. |
| fruits and vegetables03-23-04, 03:22 AM | Ha! I forgot about that whole discussion on another thread. So true. |
