| PEXE12-12-06, 12:09 PM | Hi guys... Iīm having a litle trouble with my DM about when to use the NERVESKITTER spell. :waits: My DM says that i can only use this spell during a surprise round, and if i am aware at that round. :nonono: I say that the proper time to use is when the DM tells the party: "Ok guys... now roll for your initiative..." beacuse the text of the spell says "You cast this spell when you and your party roll for initiative." I dont see how can be any doubt about that! So Iīm asking here:  When is the right time to use this spell? Thanks:) |
| Witch12-12-06, 12:11 PM | You are correct. It's essentially a +5 bonus to your initiative at the price of a level 1 spell slot. |
| runestar12-12-06, 12:13 PM | The confusion is that the soonest you can use a swift spell is right after you have all rolled for initiative...:P Which quite makes said spell worthless... I think the intent of the spell is clear - it adds 5 for initiative checks. The only problem was awkward and unclear phrasing.:) |
| PEXE12-12-06, 12:35 PM | The spell is not a swift... Itīs a imediate action. But thatīs not the case, because the spell description specify the moment that the spell should be used... So i guess that the normal "timing" of spellcasting is repalced by the directives of the spellīs text. thanks for the replies :D |
| Damned slayer12-12-06, 12:44 PM | If its imediate than yes its when you roll the init add +5 to your dice |
| solbergb12-12-06, 02:58 PM | It really doesn't matter if it is immediate or not. It works how the spell says it works. This looks like another Feather Fall...an immediate spell that can trigger even when you are still flatfooted (overrriding the usual rule about immediate actions) because the spell says it does. |

| smrtgmp12-12-06, 07:25 PM | I agree with the above posters. The spell works the way it says it works. |
| MareltEkiran12-12-06, 09:54 PM | Spells that are immediate actions are always cast in response to something else... All spells that are immediate actions list the condition under which a caster may choose to trigger the spell. In the case of Feather Fall, the trigger is "when the caster falls". For Close Wounds, the trigger is "when a nearby ally takes damage". And in this case, for Nerveskitter, the trigger is "when initiative is rolled". |
