The description of Detect Evil includes this for round 2 of the spell:
If you are of good alignment, and the strongest evil aura’s power is overwhelming (see below), and the HD or level of the aura’s source is at least twice your character level, you are stunned for 1 round and the spell ends.A 3rd level Paladin has Aura of Courage and is thus "immune to fear (magical or otherwise)". I wonder: is this Paladin also stunned for 1 round? Logically I would think that the person is stunned because he is scared. With the Paladin being immune to such emotions, would the overwhelming evil also cause him to be stunned?

I think he is still stunned. Not because he's frightened, but because of the sensory overload on his evil-detection. I think of it like walking from a dark room straight outside and looking right at the sun, only the sun is evil.

Immune to fear effects specifically means the effects shaken, frightened and panicked, not any other effects.

If the stun was a fear effect it would state it was a fear effect explicitly.

The stunning is the 6 seconds it takes to shake the overwhelming urge to retch.

Stun isn't a fear effect. I think the stun is caused by "the overwhelming evil" tasering you....

shaken, frightened and panicked are fear affects ? sounds logical, but is this stated somewhere in the rules ?

Fear

Spells, magic items, and certain monsters can affect characters with fear. If a fear effect allows a saving throw, it is a Will save (DC 10 + ½ fearsome creature’s racial HD + creature’s Cha modifier; the exact DC is given in the creature’s descriptive text). All fear attacks are mind-affecting fear effects. A failed roll usually means that the character is shaken, frightened, or panicked.

Fear effects are cumulative. A shaken character who is made shaken again becomes frightened, and a shaken character who is made frightened becomes panicked instead. A frightened character who is made shaken or frightened becomes panicked instead.

Shaken is a less severe state of fear than frightened or panicked.

Frightened is like shaken, except that the creature must flee if possible. Panicked is a more extreme state of fear.

Panicked is a more extreme state of fear than shaken or frightened.

Any questions?

no, i thank you - we had arguments about that.

but i fear there is no such rule for "sick-nauseated-deseased" , which would render the paladin immune to sickening and nauseating effects ?

No - nausea, like in the real world, is not always linked with disease. Disease is unrelated to the Sickened and Nauseated conditions.

One of the developer's blogs was just posting about how "Nauseated" is a bad term for the condition (being denied actions), as there are a lot of other things that could deny you action.
