I just got the Magic of Incarnum book and I was wondering if the people on this forum could give me a hand with some stuff.

Crystal Helm bound to the Crown chakra gives your melee attacks the force descriptor. Does this make your attacks bypass damage reduction?

Mauling Gauntlets gives a moral bonus on strength checks. Does attack rolls count?

Airstep Sandals unbound gives you a fly speed with good maneuverability but you have to end your move on a solid surface. Bound it gives you perfect maneuverability but it doesn't say anthing about a solid surface. Does this meld bypass the solid surface requirement?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Crystal Helm: I believe that means you hit incorporeal targets with no miss chance.

Mauling Gauntlets: No it doesn't.

Airstep Sandals: No it does not bypass.

As far as MoI goes, go strait to the Totemist. It rocks.

No. The Force descriptor means that you ignore the miss chance for something being Incorporeal.

Mauling Gauntlets gives a morale bonus on strength checks. Does attack rolls count?

Nice try! No. It should be noted that the Mauling Gauntlets is only to strength checks (so d20 rolls where you add only your Strength modifier), such as Trip and breaking down doors, rather than Strength-based checks, such as Climb and Jump.

Airstep Sandals unbound gives you a fly speed with good maneuverability but you have to end your move on a solid surface. Bound it gives you perfect maneuverability but it doesn't say anthing about a solid surface. Does this meld bypass the solid surface requirement?

No. Unfortunately, it just means that you can ascend and descend and do loop-the-loops without requiring a certain "forward speed".

You may find my Magic of Incarnum Q&A thread (see my signature) also of use.

Cheers!

O well, I thought I might be able to get away with some things that I can't. Thanks anyway guys.

BTW, I personally like the flavor of the Incarnate more than the Totamist. But I'll admit that the Totamist seems to have more frontloaded power.

Crystal Helm bound to the Crown chakra gives your melee attacks the force descriptor. Does this make your attacks bypass damage reduction? It will if you find a creature/object/whatever that has DR/force. In the meantime enjoy the ability to ignore the miss chance incorporeal creatures normally enjoy.Mauling Gauntlets gives a moral bonus on strength checks. Does attack rolls count? An attack roll is not a strength check. Sadly that means it doesn't count. Just remember that an attack roll is an attack roll and nothing else.Airstep Sandals unbound gives you a fly speed with good maneuverability but you have to end your move on a solid surface. Bound it gives you perfect maneuverability but it doesn't say anthing about a solid surface. Does this meld bypass the solid surface requirement? If it doesn't state that there's a further amendment then it doesn't change that requirement. However, I'd typically houserule that it allowed sustained flight instead of bursts of flight.
