| DrakeRunner10-08-03, 09:40 PM | Now, they're considered technological, so they work regardless of anti-magic fields, but other than that, I want them to be treated like normal magic items. The first is a pair of flat, dark fuzzy rectangular trapezoids about 2, 3 inches long. They adhere to your eyebrows, and look like a giant pair of eyebrows. They provide immunity to all mind affecting abilities as per constructs and undead, and a penalty of -4 to Diplomacy checks (staring at the eyebrows), and a +2 bonus to Bluff, (staring at the eyebrows). They seem to project over any headgear or eyewear, so that the eyebrow movement can be seen even with a full helm. The second item is a large stationary tank of fluids with life support equipment, that when a unconsious being is place inside the tank and hooked up to the life support equipment, is granted +1 regeneration until he regains consiousness, then it only provides triple natural healing rate. They're pretty unusual, and I can't figure out the formulas NORMALLY, I don't know WHAT I'll do for these. |
| L33t Angel10-08-03, 09:55 PM | Too much FLCL? |
| Seeker9510-08-03, 10:22 PM | For the trapezoids, remove the mind-affecting immunity. If it isn't magical, do not give it a magical effect. But all the other features seem perfectly normal. As an aside... why not make them magic items? |
| L33t Angel10-08-03, 10:25 PM | Because he's basing them off of FLCL. In that goddawful anime a man wore those eyebrows to edge out some kind of crazy mental field. by wearing the eyebrows, obviously an electronic device of some kind, this character could not succumb to the mind affecting powers of the main character who used other people's minds to warp in weaponry and other items. It was a confusing mish mash of 6 episodes of gibberish. Lord, I'm glad Bebop is back. |
| Seeker9510-08-03, 10:29 PM | Oh... well, then... Try the d20 Modern boards. |
| DrakeRunner10-09-03, 12:12 AM | Gee, thanks. I'm glad you're already bashing me because I want to know how to make them. Instead of helping me and answering my question, I get bashed because I think eyebrows of psionic protection are an interesting item, which also fits in with campaign elements of militant psionics. And the tank of regeneration is far more generic than just FLCL. Half the horror movies involving "science gone wrong" feature the same kind of thing. d20 modern can't handle it, thats why I brought it here. |
| Dartanel10-09-03, 12:13 AM | No, in FLCL certain humans had the ability to open portals inside their heads when struck really hard and later subjected to emotional stress. These portals allowed random things to come out of them. The eyebrows, when placed on the head, supressed that ability. That's it, nothing more, nothing less. |
| L33t Angel10-09-03, 12:32 AM | I wasn't bashing I was merely explaining. In fact i was bashing FLCL more than anything. I apologize for making it looked like I attacked you, here maybe if I actually help I won't look like a complete jack-ass! :D Bands of Mental Shielding These two bands when worn in tandem over the brow, provide protection from mind-influencing effects. They provide immunity to all mind affecting abilities as per constructs and undead, and a +2 bonus to Bluff, (staring at the eyebrows). They seem to project over any headgear or eyewear, so that the eyebrow movement can be seen even with a full helm. So, Here we go... Protection from Evil fills the mind thing well, just give a price discount because you lose all of the other bonuses. So a +2 to Bluff? That's a skill bonus... So: 1x1x2000x2 = 2,000gp x 2 = 4,000 gp 4x100 = 400gp*150% =600gp so, 4,600gp. I don't know if that's fair. i don't think it is. The Mental Immunity is too strong for so cheap, but the next xlosest spell is Mind Blank which is not evry close let's try it using that... 8 x 15 x2000 x 2 = 480,000gp 4 x 100 x 1.5 = 600 so 480,600. That seems far too steep. Anyone else wanna have a go at it? |
| L33t Angel10-09-03, 12:34 AM | Oh yeah, forget the -4 Diplomacy thing. Or just rule an ad hoc amount of discount. I'd just forget it. |
| DrakeRunner10-09-03, 10:51 AM | Sorry about that, I kind of overreacted... :( Alright, we were expecting them to get pricey, so I think doubling the price wouldn't be so bad... 9,400 Maybe even 15,000. We were planning on them being expensive. |
