A damaging spell with the healing descriptor.

Arcane healing (mwhahahaha)
Conjuration (healing)
Sorc/wiz 3
Components: VS
Casting time: 1 action
Range: touch
Target: living or undead creature touched
Duration: instantaneous
Save: will half
SR: yes

Description
Originally created by a good-natured wizard in an effort to create an arcane version of CMW it proved imposable to adequately regulate the flow of positive energy and the spell causes incredibly painful deformation in the target. The original creator (who’s name is lost) published the spell widely along with his research notes in the hope that they would allow another to succeed where he had failed. Unfortunately less benevolent spell casters found a use for his research.

Effect
The target of the spell takes 1d4+1per 2 caster levels (max +5) points temp dex damage as tissue grows in the joints, 1d6/2 caster levels (max 5d6) lethal damage from inappropriate tissue growth and 1d6 for each odd caster level (max 5d6) non lethal damage from the pain. The save is rolled once and halves all effects. Against an undead the spell only deals the lethal HP damage.

So what do you think? I think it could use a better name.

The only change I would make is to remove the (healing) descriptor. Even the inflict spells don't carry that descriptor. It isn't a (healing) spell. It is a damage spell that was an attempt to make a healing spell.

Further, the Will save doesn't seem to fit. Either you take physical damage or you do not. What does willpower have to do with it? As a change, I would suggest either:
1. Change to Fort save for half; or
2. Change to Will save to ignore non-lethal damage.

As for damage... it seems excessive at first, but the caps you put in are very well-balanced.

I like it a lot (but the name will mislead and inflame!).

I chose will half because that is what cure and inflict have.

You may be right about it not deserving the healing descriptor. I was trying to get across the fact that in terms of how the spell is built it is almost exactly the same as a cure spell it has the same effects of flesh and bone fusing together but it lacks the direction to do so only where there was an actual injury.

I was considering simplifying the damage to 1d6/lvl (max 10d6) half of witch is subdual from the intense pain. Do you think that would be better.
