A Dragon casting Dragonshape [Archive] - Wizards Community

Endesi is a Great Wyrm Blue Dragon, leader of a huge Orcish army in the northern desert who believe him to be the draconic reincarnation of Gruumish. To rise in his ranks, however, elite soldiers are forced to undergo a painful magical ritual that transforms them into a semi-draconic soldier (essentially adding the Reptilian template from Savage Species or the Half-Dragon template from MMI).

That being said, I'd always envisioned that the highest honor a soldier could be bestowed with (like earning a medal) would be to temporarily turn into a dragon prior to a major battle. I thought I had found the perfect spell: Dragonshape, from Player's Handbook II. However, the spell's range is Personal; that won't do at all.

Is there an Ability, Spell, or Feat, Metamagic or otherwise, that would let me make Personal spells into Touch spells? I don't want to use Polymorph or Polymorph Any Object.

There's an item in DMG II caller bracelets of spell sharing. Each bracelet is worn by a different character. When a spell is cast with a range of personal, its duration is cut in half and the effect is shared between the bracelet wearers. Combined with a greater extend metamagic rod, it could be the ticket. Price is 60,000 gp.

Other cool items:
Ring of Dragonshape: Polymorph (as the broken-ass PHB spell) into a young red or young gold dragon [depending on if you're good or evil] for 1 hour, once per day as a standard action. Dismissable early as a standard action. 23,000 gp.

There are least and lesser versions of dragonshape in Dragon Magic. They function the same as the dragonshape spell, but are sor/wiz level 3 and 6 and transform you into a tiny pseudodragon and a young red dragon, respectively.

Another way to go: if you have Epic Level Handbook, give your great wyrm the Epic Spellcasting feat and create epic spells to perform truly kickass things, like raise islands, create volcanoes, cause total solar eclipses, rain fire from the sky for miles and hours, among other neat things.

However, don't give this to the PCs.
Giving the dragon some magic-itom way around it will give the PCs this item when they raid it's stash.
