| Yaeri09-27-06, 10:03 AM | You know the drill, what's the level for these babies? Other balancing factors? I started thinking about my character maybe creating these three spells because we're always travelling/adventuring and don't really get time to craft items. Yaeri's instant ingredients Conjuration (creation) level: Sor/Wiz ? Components: V, S, M Casting time: 10 minutes Range: material components touched Duration: permanent This spell creates valuable components that can be used to craft items from. The value of the components created is the same as the value of the gems used as material components for the spell. This spell can be used to allow wizards to conjure the raw materials needed to craft items, without having to go to a large town to buy them. But they still have to "pay" the same amount for it in the material component gem cost. Material component: Gems. Yaeri's portable workshop Transmutation Level: Sor/Wiz ? components: V, S, F casting time: 10 minutes Range: Personal and up to one extra willing person touched. Duration: 1 workday (=12 hours?) When this spell is cast, the caster and up to one extra other person touched dissapear into the crystall ball. They can be seen there from the outside, as miniscule creatures. Inside the ball is a workshop that provides all the tools needed to craft items, such as: a heat source, pots to boil things in, etc... The lab gives a +2 circumstance bonus on any craft checks. (This overlaps with the bonus provided by masterwork tools.) More importantly, it grants the opportunity to spellcasters, to craft items, even while in the wilderness. No tools can be taken outside of the ball, except for the raw materials that were taken inside. The unfinished product can remain in the ball for the next casting, or it can be taken out so work on it can be continued elsewhere. There is only room enough to work on one item at the same time. So when two people are in the ball, one can assist the other, but they can't both be working on seperate items. The spell lasts long enough for the crafter(s) to gain a full day of work on the item, but not long enough to also sleep in there. The lab does not provide valuable components for the items themselves. It doesn't provide the ore from which to make a sword, or the necklace from which to make prayer beads for example, but it provides the tools to make a sword out of the ore, or prayer beads out of a necklace. Should the ball be destroyed, any people and materials still inside it reappear next to the ball and receive 2D6 piercing damage. People must make a fort DC 12 or be knocked unconscious. Focus: A crystall ball on a smal support. (I don't know how to call this in English. A crystall ball that has a flat "foot" at its base, so it doesn't roll away) Yaeri's augmented efficiency Transmutation level: Sor/Wiz ? Components: S, F, M (XP) Casting time: 1 minute Range: personal (or willing creature touched?) Duration: 1 day When this spell is cast, the caster becomes so efficient at crafting items, that he/she can work at double speed. In one day of work, the caster manages to finish off two days worth of work. This spell does only reduce the time it takes to craft the item, not the XP cost, nor the gp cost. This spell costs 80 XP when cast. This means that if a wizard casts this spell every day while crafting an item that should take 10 days to finish ; the item is finished in five days, and has cost the wizard (aside from the extra spell slot each day) twice the amount of XP it normally would have cost. [(1/25th of 10.000)XP + (80XP*5)= 400XP + 400 XP = 800XP] Material component: 80 XP Focus: The item you're working on. If this last spell isn' estimated too high a level, perhaps a greater version of it is possible, that allows even faster crafting? |
| anki09-27-06, 10:23 AM | I think levels 1,4,6 would suit these spell fine.or maybe 7th for the last. |
| anki09-27-06, 10:26 AM | One more thing:If you add to the first spell 100 gp worth of materials per level it would suit as a 1st level spell even better. |
| Yaeri09-28-06, 10:35 AM | :bump: Anyone else? (Not that I don't value your estimates Anki. The first two closely resemble my own. About the third I didn't have (and still don't have) an estimate myself. But a few peoples estimates makes a more solid average.) |
| Chrono Nexus09-28-06, 02:39 PM | I agree with anki's assessment. |
| Yaeri09-29-06, 05:44 AM | Allrighty. Then I'll aim for those levels. Thanks for the replies. :) |
| Fruscht09-29-06, 06:47 AM | I just want to say I really like those spells, especially the portable workshop. Great ideas! As for levels, I really don't know. Of the top of my head: 1, 3, 6. |
| tarkin09-29-06, 11:10 AM | As is, I would say 2, 3,6 To make the first one a First level spell, I would change it to read like this: The value of the components created is the 10% less then the value of the gems used as material components for the spell. |
