Creatures caught by this spell suffer the effects if they were a victim of the disintegrate spell and save as per that spell. This spell need not be cast the precise round of arrival or 1 round prior. So long as the spell is targeted in the exact area the Anticipate Teleportation told the caster the spell will take effect as soon as the target arrives. Note: this spell only can work on a single creature that teleports in, and if targeted against a group it only effects the protaganist ie the caster of teleport. Greater Scramble teleporter Abjuration Level: Sor/Wiz 7 Components: V, S Range: Short Casting Time: 1 standard action Duration: Instantaneous Target: All creatures involved in the same casting of a teleport spell Saving throw: Fortitude (Partial) SR: Yes As per scramble teleporter, however everyone that came with the teleporting creature suffer the same effect but save seperately. Enhanced Spell Preperation Divination (Universal?) Level: Sor/Wiz 4 Components: V, S Castinge time: 30 minutes Range: Personal Effect: Special Duration: 24 hours Saving throw: None SR: None This spell duplicates the feat spell mastery, at the time of the casting the caster determines which spells he wants to have mastered for the remainder of the day. Note: this spell must be cast immediately before or after the wizard prepares his spells for the day. Viable? raise level drop level? I'm not telepathic so Critique! |

Scramble Teleporter: If it can only be used in conjuction with Anticipate Teleport and it only affects one creature, then why not just ready an action to cast disintegrate when they arrive? You'll achieve the same results and your spell can be used for other things as well if there are no teleport ambushes that day. Greater Scramble teleporter: Far more useful than the lesser version. Personally, I would can the 6th level version and just go with this. However, as it is basically a mass disintegrate, I think the level needs to be higher. The fact that it can only be used against incoming teleporters is certainly a limiting factor, however, so I think I would place this at 8th level. Enhanced Spell Preperation: An interesting idea, but I think the duration would need to be longer for it to be of any real use. How about 1 day/level? If you did that you might want to put a limitation in the spell that prevents you from benefiting from more than one casting at a time. As for the level, I'm not really sure. I would say somewhere from 3rd to 5th, but its hard to judge something like this. It would be very useful in some campaigns, and next to worthless in others (as some DMs dont go after spellbooks that often). :) |
| Aelreth05-29-05, 03:45 PM | Well you have a point there about that, hmmmm Well since the teleporting creatures are inmaterial at that point denying them a constitution bonus to their fortitude save would be correct, also since you are disrupting the teleporation spell itself, i should change the SR to No. I also had the thought of leaving instead of a 5d6 partial on a sucessful save i was thinking about leaving some CON damage. As to what the desired effect is, if your familiar with star trek imagine what happens to a person who happens to be using a malfunctioning transported. Part goes over here another goes over there on a atomical level. If you were to deny the teleporter magical protections when the spell was cast would the spell be higher, epic the same. Scramble Teleporter Abjuration Level: Sor/Wiz 6 Components: V, S Range: Short Casting Time: 1 standard action Duration: Instantaneous Target: 1 incoming teleporting creature Saving throw: Fortitude (Partial) SR: No Used in conjunction with the Anticipate Teleportation spell, this spell causes teleporting targets that teleport into the area to have their bodies scrambled and scattered in the surrounding area. Creatures caught by this spell suffer the effects if they were a victim of the disintegrate spell and save as per that spell. Except that their fortitude save would not recieve a bonus from their constitution score, since their bodies haven't formed. I see no problem though with switching the spell level to 8 for the group improved version. I'm suprised no one caught on to the fact that you can cast this multiple times on the same group before they arrive. Greater Scramble teleporter Abjuration Level: Sor/Wiz 8 Components: V, S Range: Short Casting Time: 1 standard action Duration: Instantaneous Target: All creatures involved in the same casting of a teleport spell Saving throw: Fortitude (Partial) SR: Yes As per scramble teleporter, however everyone that came with the teleporting creature suffer the same effect but save seperately. On the note of enhanced spell preperation, the first draft was a 3rd level spell, but ever since I started designing spells I always artifically raised it a spell level so that it doesn't seem that overpowered. So far i see two versions of that spell, the multi-day version that can't be stacked but should be raised a level or a lower level one 3rd or 4th level that only lasts one day. As you might have guessed im designing situational spells that are rather devastating in certain situations but I'm creating other spells to cover the holes that were made to increase the overall power of my primary caster |
