| ShadowDreamer04-17-04, 12:54 PM | The spell holds alot of power, but i would like to know where to draw the line, for example i know you cant walk up to a wall of force and say its impeding your movement in that directions so you can move through it with the spell, but i want to check a few other spells... Forcecage: i assume it doesnt protect against this for the same reason as the force wall? Reality mealstrom (MotP): i assume this negates the "sucking in" effect of the outer ring since it effects movement? The spell Amber sarcofogous (BoED): This spell encases the subject in amber, would Freedom of movement stop this? Finnaly, does this prevent spells that stun the victim since that stops you from moving, or not since it does so by basicly knocking you out in a sense. (on a side note: does stunned count as helpless for the purposes of a coup de grace?) |

| Bloodtide_the_Red04-18-04, 02:39 AM | Guess the trick is the whole 'inpede' in the spell description. What inpedes your movement? Does Wall of Force 'inpede' your movement? Maybe. I'd say the spell description only applies to things that reduce your movement rate. Take the spell examples given, slow, solid fog and web all reduce your movement rate. Wall of force has no effect on your movement rate. Forcecage does not effect your movement rate, so it can still effect you. Reality Maelstrom--This spell does not inpede your movement, it effects it yes...but not impede it. Amber Scrcofogous--same as force cage. Freedom of movement can not 'block' stun effects. BT |

My first justification for amber not getting stopped was that it actually had something physical holding you (while Hold person is entirely magical), but that kinda falls apart when you see it stops grappling (which is also a physical force), so i figured i would ask around. thanks for the help |
