| nephsytis08-20-06, 06:26 PM | i play a level 10 specialist wizard (necromancer) and are about to face a juvenile red dragon, which i would clearly like to reanimate as my steed (fear me!) as a Juvenile red dragon can have between 16-18 HD, animate dead wont be able to raise it as a zombie (because of the 10HD limit) and would have to settle for a skeletal juvenile red dragon. this means i lose the flight (albeit clumsy) abillity. what i am after is a spell that allows you to animate zombies of higher than 10HD... and im hoping one exists. the way the campaign is set is taht each player has access to PHB, DMG, PHB2 and complete adventurer, + 1 source book, mine being LIbris Mortis of course. this being the case im happy to research a spell for this purpose, so if one existed i would use that spell, but say i researched it, so it was balanced, otherwise i would create something like this: greater animate dead level 6 target: one corpse Range: touch material components : 50 gold worth of black onyx per hit die of creature to be raised. greater animate dead allows the reanimation of the corpses of more powerful creatures than the regular Animate dead spell. in most respects this spell functions like its predecessor, except the maximum total of hit die when creating a zombie from the base creature has risen to 20. well? fair or unbalanced? otherwise it could be set up similar to the create undead and raise in hitdie by caster level, ie CL 11 = 11 HD CL15 = 15 HD which wouldnt be of use for me at this present time anyway, i give it to you to hack to pieces. just remember: dont run with scissors. has risen to 20 |

In the Draconomicon, there are alternate rules on how dragons are animated as zombies. You might check them out, and see if the DM is using them. If not, you could try to research them on your own (either as a new spell, or an application of the old spell). Also, don't forget to Awaken (Awaken Undead, LM) your new pet to get it some feats, and get its Extraordinary abilities back. :D |
