I was talking with someone the other day about how killing insects is annoying because you end up with bug guts splattered all over stuff, and this cantrip was the result

Exterminate
Transmutation
Sor/Wiz 0
Components: V,S,M
Casting Time: 1 Standard Action
Range: Close (25 ft+5 ft/2 levels)
Effect: Ray
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: None
SR: Yes

A thin, green ray springs from your pointing finger. You must make a successful ranged touch attack to hit. Any vermin with less than 1 HD struck by the ray is disintegrated, leaving behind only a trace of fine dust. A creature of another type, or a vermin with 1 or more HD is unaffected.

(I know, a cantrip level death spell, but the most hit points I can find on a vermin with less than 1 HD is a tiny scorpion at 4 HP, so thats a practical limit to how much damage it can deal)

I want a wand of that spell.

What, mosquitos on my room? Exterminate! Exterminate!

Just so it's not totally combat-useless, I'd make it deal 1 point of damage to vermin creatures of 1hd or more.

lol. of course, this would also lead to the inevitable wonderous item...

Anti-Pest Stand
(minor wonderous item)
Insects of all nature are drawn towards this 3' tall tube. To resist coming, they must make a will save of DC 10. Once they reach it, they are zapped with the spell Exterminate. No more ant problems at picnics! (although you still may have a problem with giant ants, aka formians).

To complete the anti-pest stand, you need a spell that causes insects to be attracted to it. This spell would give off a visible blue-violet glow.

It would have to be a transmutation - not an enchantment, as insects are mindless.
