I noticed that in 3.0 druids are limited in their use or ranged weapons no bows or crossbows so I thought of this magic item to compinsate for it and figured I would post it here to get your opinions of it

Gauntlet of the Manticore:

This gauntlet looks to be a covered in a shabby tawny fur with a sieres of sharp pointed quills comeing out from the back of the hand and laying down against the the top of the forearm. To use this weapon a druid dons the gauntlet and then does a short quick swing with the arm that the gauntlet is on ending with a quick snap of the wrist this fires a single quill at the intended target.

range: 240 ft ( this is the max range )
damage: 1d6
ammo: 24 quills, quills regrow a rate of one an hour
wieght: 5 pounds

I'm toying with the idea that this item imparts the ability to wild shape into a manticore for a druid but I think that might be a little over the top.

I have no idea as to what this item would cost to make or what spells it would take. The only thing I have worked out is that you need the tail of a manticore to make this item.
