| Blackwolfsdance04-26-05, 09:25 PM | This is a spell I created for my campaine. It is called Acid Sphere. It is a sorcery/Wizard level 2. It has a verbal, somatic, and material component. This spell take 1 standard action to cast. It has a range of 100' + 10' per level. It creates a five foot diameter shpere that last 1 round a caster level. A reflex saving throw negates the damage. It is subject to spell resistance. It does 2d6 acid damage and 1d6 acid damage per round until it is washed off. A person hit by it must also make a resisitance save vrs poison dc13 or take 1 point constitution damage, If they fail the first save they must make another one or take1d4 con additional damage. The material component is a small crystal sphere wich is not consumed on the casting. Yes this is a varient of the flaming sphere spell. Hope you like it. :) |
| tarkin04-27-05, 12:28 AM | It is acid, this is 3rd edition. Remove the words "save vs. poison" and change it to either "if they failed the reflex save" or "also a Fort Save". |
| q'afuu04-27-05, 12:54 AM | It does 2d6 acid damage and 1d6 acid damage per round until it is washed off. For how long? 'Until it is washed off' could be a while. A person hit by it must also make a resisitance save vrs poison dc13 or take 1 point constitution damage, If they fail the first save they must make another one or take1d4 con additional damage. Too good, if you ask me. I assume you don't have to make the save again if you succeed once and consequently get hit again, at least? The material component is a small crystal sphere wich is not consumed on the casting. Components that are not consumed on casting are focuses (foci, if you prefer). If it lasts one round/caster level, can it be moved around like a Flaming Sphere? |
| smrtgmp04-27-05, 05:53 AM | It would be easier to critique if it was put into the standard spell format. In adition to the comments of the above posters, I have some more questions. What school does it belong to? I would assume Conjuration, given that its acid and all. |
| WindOwl04-27-05, 08:43 PM | I would even venture to say that it has the Acid descriptor :D EDIT: Acid Sphere Level: Sor/Wiz 2 Components: V, S, F Casting Time: 1 standard action Range: Medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./level) Effect: 5-ft.-diameter sphere Duration: 1 round/level Saving Throw: Reflex negates and Fortitude partial; see text Spell Resistance: Yes You create a 5-foot sphere of acid that appears where you where you choose. The sphere deals 2d6 acid damage to any creature it touches (Ref negates). For each round thereafter during which the spell is in effect, any creature that failed its Reflex save takes an additional 1d6 damage. In addition, any creature that touches the sphere must make a DC 13 Fortitude save or take 1 point of Constitution damage. Failure means the creature must attempt another DC 13 Fortitude save or take an additional 1d4 damage. Considering it's immobile, I think the recurring damage is balanced (fireball does an immediate level-d6). EDIT AGAIN: Isn't there already an Acid Sphere cantrip? EDIT YET AGAIN: Oops, that's Acid Splash. Whatever. |
| epifreak04-27-05, 08:50 PM | [QUOTE=q'afuu]For how long? 'Until it is washed off' could be a while./QUOTE] Well, I'm pretty sure they'd wash your body after you died from the obscene amount of d6s this added up to......So, lets see, you die, an hour or two to get to the corroner, 5-10 minutes until they get around to washing your body......yeah, this would kill epic characters, especially since nothing's stopping you from throwing up multiples of this. Imagine: until you wash it off, you take 6d6 acid damage every round. It's like having a rogue wailing on you at all times. |
