| DemonMonkeyBoy03-16-04, 12:26 AM | :b: Sorry but your link was not working for me. As a standard a wizard gains 2 free spells per character level. The spell can not be higher than their current max spell lvl, but could select a lower lvl if they wanted to. i.e. when gaining 5lvl the wizard can cast 3lvl spells he can than write up 2 3lvl spell in his book for free. Gaining another level he would get two more, but in that time he could have research other spells. A wizard can gain new spells in a few different ways. Copy a spell from a scroll or captured spellbook in to their spellbook. Or they can do research in a lab to create a new spell or spell effect they have seen. The thing is all of these cost gold to do. So the minimum spells for a 3rd lvl caster are 0 all (standard to the PHB) 1st 5 + 1 per Intel modifer 2nd 2 But could have more depending on the game. |
| PhaedrusXY03-16-04, 12:35 AM | From the SRD in the description of the Wizard class: Spellbooks: A wizard must study her spellbook each day to prepare her spells. She cannot prepare any spell not recorded in her spellbook, except for read magic, which all wizards can prepare from memory. A wizard begins play with a spellbook containing all 0-level wizard spells (except those from her prohibited school or schools, if any; see School Specialization, below) plus three 1st-level spells of your choice. For each point of Intelligence bonus the wizard has, the spellbook holds one additional 1st-level spell of your choice. At each new wizard level, she gains two new spells of any spell level or levels that she can cast (based on her new wizard level) for her spellbook. At any time, a wizard can also add spells found in other wizards’ spellbooks to her own. |
