In version 3.5 can undead or constructs see invisible or displaced characters? I believe that neither of these types of creatures can, although I understand some individual ones may be able to. But my DM seems to think they do. Can anyone tell me which of us is right? Or maybe a list of the ones that can?It would save alot of hard feelings!!!

Thanks

Undead and constructs have immunity to mind-affecting effects, not a blanket immunity to being duped magically. Glamers are not generally mind-affecting, so undead and constructs don't get to just ignore their effects. Invisibility and Displacement both work against constructs and undead.

Undead are only immune to mind affecting magic. But he might be confused due to types of illusions that exist.

Turn to illusion section in PHB page 173.
Look for which ones say they allow immunity due to undead/mind affecting.
Work:
You'll notice Shadow, figment, and glamers do not innately count as mindaffecting: unless the specific spell says otherwise (no Core spell does) they are not mind affecting.

Don't work:
Patterns are mind affecting, phantasms are as well.

Also, note that undead can see like you and me: they can be blinded (the spell glitterdust works). In really old editions of D&D, undead had lifesense, but they don't in this edition.

So in conclusion:
DM
a. has bad memory.
b. believes falsely about rules
c. is just being mean.

Nowe the DM can houserule this to be different, but he lacks rule support from books.

Silent Image works on undead: in fact, since they are usually stupid, they will rarely recognize the illusion due to studying it.
Shadows are partially real so of course they work.
Glamers work against undead.

thanks guys.

He's gonna be really happy! I think he's just going by the old rules on this.

Oh, and I definitely agree about princess bride!

Thanks again
