| Umbra_Moses02-04-06, 01:20 PM | The Magic domain allows Clerics to use scrolls as if she were a Wizard of half her Cleric level. I was wondering; for ability score purposes of using a particular scroll, do I use the Cleric's Wisdom or Intelligence score to see if I am able to cast the spell? I am going to assume that INT is what is used, but I thought I would double check on the message boards. |

The granted power simply allows you to add half your cleric levels to any wizard levels you have (even 0) in regard to what arcane spell scrolls you are able to use; you still use the appropriate modifiers for the scroll, you just use something you would normally not be able to use. ;) |

| jaelis02-04-06, 09:52 PM | It says "Use scrolls ... as a wizard of one-half your cleric level ..." which seems pretty clear to me that you would use your Int score, because that's what a wizard would use. If it said as a sorcerer, you would use your Cha score. Why can sorcs use their Cha score when using a scroll made by a wizard? Because scrolls are just arcane or divine, not wizard, sorc, druid or cleric. So there's no more difference between a knock scroll scribed by a sorc or a wiz than there is between a cure light wounds scroll scribed by a cleric or a druid. So if you can use the scroll, you use it just like you cast your normal spells. The cleric ability is something else... normally a cleric can't do anything with an arcane scroll. So you have to read the ability description to see how it works. |
