Ok, so, I've been thinking about this for a long time. The big, big Wish Spell that doesn't have any restraits, yea, that one. Since it can do litterally ANYTHING as long as the DM approves it, is it possible for you to Wish that the Wish spell no longer consumed XP to use? If so, what would the cost of XP be for such an effect be?

I really want this to be, cause that would open up a TON of opportunities, but the DM has to limit it, cause groups of PCs would run rampant if it went unbalanced.

Restraints are kind of like limits, aren't they? If you read the spell, you'd see the following, from the SRD entry for Wish:
"Even wish, however, has its limits. "..."You may try to use a wish to produce greater effects than these, but doing so is dangerous. (The wish may pervert your intent into a literal but undesirable fulfillment or only a partial fulfillment.) "

So, either (a) nothing would happen, (b) the spell Wish now requires no XP, but instead has only one effect, to create a glowing tattoo on your forehead that says "I lost D&D", or (c) you'd become trapped in your own little demiplane, all by yourself, where Wish had no XP cost or (d) some other just-as-bad thing that your DM comes up with. Plus, your character now has no genitals.

Do you mean for all future castings of wish? You could limit it to like once a month or something.

First, you'd go ahead and pay at least 5k, as it's a cost. After that, I'd say it'd consume at least 25,000 gp (5 gp per xp, as with magic items) of magic items, instantly, no save. If you have no such items, or not enough you're killed, as though by the Life or Death salient ability.

Just remember that everyone else also doesn't need to pay XP, and the BBEG definately has more money at his/her disposal than you, especially considering there's many of them.

Wish has plenty of limitations. It simply has LESS limitations than Limited Wish *grin*

Your base idea is entirely wrong. It is not 'unlimited'. It is limited by the DM. As is everything else. Just as your DM may House Rule that Magic Missile would kill anything instantly, even a god, your DM could House Rule that Wish would not cost 5,000 gp. But don't expect either to happen.

In a Strict or Loose game, your DM will realize that Wish is a 9th level spell. It is not even a TINY bit more powerfull than the other 9th level spells. As such, anything that your DM would not let you turn into a 9th level spell, should not be doable by Wish. As Wish is a 9th level spell that cost 5,000 xp, it should be obvious that it is inappropriate to make a spell identical to Wish that does not cost the 5,000 xp. As such, Wish itself could not change the rules of the universe in the manner you want.

Even a Power DM won't let you pull that kind of stuff with a regular wish. He might let you get a special wish from a deity to do it just for you, but even then, expect limitations.

It would take an Anything Goes DM to consider letting a 9th level spell make itself much more powerfull. Even then, expect some other caster to use a Wish spell to cancel your wish very quickly.

You could try wishing that the limitations will become more like one of the previous versions.
