I probably should've asked this question when I first started 3.x, but my group seemed to know what they were doing, so I followed along like a sheep.:embarrass

If a spellcaster gets hit in melee and his turn comes around does he have to make a concetration check to make sure his spell goes off?

thanks in advanced.

No.

If the spell has a casting time of one standard action, or one full-round action, then the spell is begun and completed (and its effect resolved) during the caster's own turn. The only way to interrupt it via damage is for someone to have readied an action to interrupt it, which would force a concentration check, or for the caster to not cast defensively, which would provoke an Attack of Opportunity which might also ruin the spell.

If the spell has a casting time of one round (like, say, Sleep), then the caster is casting the spell from his turn on this round until immediately before he acts on the next round; any attacks he suffers during this time will force a concentration check.

No damage taken prior to initiating casting a spell affect the caster's ability to do so.

If you ready an action and the mage doesn't cast defensively, do you get to hit him once and then again for the AoO?

If you ready an action and the mage doesn't cast defensively, do you get to hit him once and then again for the AoO?Yes. Though "hit" might be the wrong word- you still have to make the attack roll, and maybe the wizard has great AC...
