are there any spells that give temporary enchantments to a weapon like flaming, frost, etc.

11-01-05, 11:26 PM Mmm, maybe just one in the PHB: keen edge. A few others in Complete Arcane and Complete Adventurer. Lots of assassin spells to render your weapon insubstantial, ethereal, rendering attacks as touch attacks, etc.

Forgotten Realm's Lost Empires of Faerūn has even spells that confer multiple abilities at once, pretty awesome combos.

11-02-05, 01:18 AM Not that I'm aware of (and by the way, I knew what you meant by your original post). There are some nifty spells along that line in the mana-based magic system that I'm working on, but not in standard, as far as I know of.

11-02-05, 11:08 AM Look in savage species, there's a spell that gives any weapon an elemental burst for a certain time (1 minute/CL, iirc).

I don't see much problem with making one the same as keen edge if it only bestows a specific energy type

Infusions:....They function just like spells and follow all the rules for spells

Let's try not to be pedantic, shall we?

Artificiers can do exactly what you're proposing. Multiple enchantments can be bestowed depending on which variation of the spell you use. (Greater, lesser)
