Hi everyone! :D Forgive me if my question is silly, but I'm terrible at looking up spells.

Is there a spell that turns a humanoid into a tree of some kind? And if so, can you tell they were once humanoid, or do they appear to be normal trees?

I'm trying to cook up a story about a slightly unbalanced Druid who turns all who tresspass upon her property into trees, but I'm not sure if there is a spell that accomodates such a plan.

If anyone could help, I'd be very grateful.

 None come to mind. Are you the DM or player? If you are DM then just make up the spell. I don't think it would be any more unbalancing than flesh to stone or flesh to salt.

I player, then just check with your DM and make sure he allows you to use this madeup spell

I'm both, depending on which group I'm playing with. :D In this case I'm DMing, and normally I'd just make up the spell, but in this case I'd like to give the players a saving throw, and I'm not sure just how difficult it should be. :thinks:

I figured there must be a spell like this somewhere, I just don't know where!

Oh dear, that's one of the few sourcebooks I don't have! Is there anyway you could give me the specifics of the spell, or tell me where I could find it myself? Thanks!

that probably isn't quite what you are looking for. It is a 9th level wu jen spell first of all.

It is a permanent turn to trees thing, with the ability to turn it into a treant for a limited duration.

I think for your purposes a modified flesh to stone would be a more useful.

Oh, I see...

Hmmm, perhaps you are right. :) I'm surprised that no other spell (that I know of) seems to fit the bill. WotC is so creative when it comes to spells.

Thank you very much for your help!

Polymorph any object and tree shape from the PHB, both accomplish this. Plant body in the Spell Compendium might too, although it is a personal spell in the SC. It was a touch spell in Savage Species.

Hello there. The spell your looking for is Jungle Rapture, A far reaches spell. see below:

Jungle's Rapture
Transmutation
Level: Drd 5
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Short (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Target: One living nonplant creature
Duration: Permanent (D)
Saving Throw: Will negates
Spell Resistance: Yes
This terrible curse causes the targeted creature (excluding plant creatures) to slowly transform into a normal healthy plant. The creature targeted by this spell immediately takes 1d6 points of permanent Dexterity drain and loses the ability to digest food. This drain manifests as a hardening of the limbs and skin as the victim's flesh slowly turns to wood. Each day that passes, the victim takes an additional 1d6 points of permanent Dexterity drain. Any Dexterity points drained by this spell cannot be restored by anything less than a greater restoration spell, and even this potent spell cannot prevent further drain that may occur in following days. If the victim survives long enough, it eventually begins to starve to death. Once a victim of jungle's rapture is drained to 0 Dexterity, it immediately transforms into a normal plant of the same size as its original body. Aside from radiating an aura of Transmutation magic, the plant is a normal plant (with no Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma score) until it dies a natural plant death.
Jungle's rapture is a curse, and as such it cannot be dispelled. It can be removed with a break enchantment, limited wish, miracle, or wish spell. Remove curse works only if the caster is of an equal or higher caster level than your caster level at the time you cast jungle's rapture. The spell can be dismissed by the caster as a free action.

This spell is a bit dated, but should still work out the same. I haven't looked it over for some time. And sorry to post off topic, but does anyone have a link to the thread for the Blue mage someone made? I want to put it in my sig.

Polymorph Any Object might work, but I'm afraid that it isn't a Druid Spell. Tree Shape is also intriguing, but it only works on the caster. :(

Jungle Rapture sounds so wonderfully vicious! :evillaugh But I need something that takes hold sooner then that.

I basically need a Druid spell that can change another humanoid into a tree instantly (or semi-instantly) and permanantly. I'd also like for it to allow a saving throw.

I'm sorry if I'm being so picky. :( I guess I'm a bit of a stickler for detail. :detect: Thank you guys so much for trying to help me!

I would just use flesh to stone as a model. Keep everything the same but have the changed into a tree instead of a statue.

The mechanics of the two are functionally identical; the only difference is the flavor.

I might just do that. LOL I like the thought of woody and stoney flavors. :D

I can't wait to unleash it upon my players! :evillaugh

"As you make your way through the thick, tangled wood, you suddenly step into a large, abrupt clearing. A small, sparkling pond is at its center, promising cool refreshment for the weary. As you make your way closer to the pool, you notice the odd clumping of trees scattered to and fro about the clearing. Many are gathered about the pond, their woody trunks oddly shaped for their species. Some tall, some short, some thick, some thin. They look almost as if they are recoiling from the water's edge, their woody limbs frozen in unnatural gestures. An odd sense of unnaturalness surrounds you, and it is only when you reach the edge of the water that you realize why. The trees have heads, faces, features. Their mouths are open, contorted and frozen in wild cries, forever silent, foever alive, forever growing, forever screaming."

sounds good to me. Just make sure wood to flesh is available somehow.

Don't worry, I will. :D I'm not mean enough to turn them into trees forever. Perhaps I'll allow for remove curse or break enchantment as well.

I'm so grateful for everyone's help! Thanks!

i can think of a few ways of turning wood into flesh. none of them require magic. and they all require posting on the mature boards! LOL

but yea. you need a way to reverse it lol ^_^ gl. sounds like your players are in for a great surprise. i'd love to play in a game where a druid was the baddie. and she tried to turn me into wood.

though you wouldn't need a spell.. again mature boards... heh

Is there a spell that turns a humanoid into a tree of some kind? And if so, can you tell they were once humanoid, or do they appear to be normal trees?

Only thing that exist is a 2nd edition Druid only spell (Unwilling Wood), but it hasn't been adapted to 3.5 yet.

It was permanent, 7th level, and Area Effect up to your HD in humanoids.
Each made a save vs polymorph or turned into trees (including their gear.)
Required a Remove Curse from a higher level caster to return to normal, otherwise you aged and died as a tree.

Sorry that Jungle's Rapture isn't what you need. I also think that simply making a flavor mod to flesh to stone is good. but save that Jungle's Rapture! It's a fairly rare old spell, created on a now dead wizards topic. I got everything from the far reaches, however.
Also, I as a DM like putting the PCs on a countdown to mess with their heads, just so fun!

I could see a 6th level spell doing it.

Call it Improved Balefull Polymorph

As Balefull Polymorph but:

1) Is transformed into a plant.

2) Can't write

3) Can't move or make any verbalizations (no "Natural Spell" feat

4) New form must be native to the area (no "fatal" forms)

Flesh to Tree
Transmutation
Level: Drd 6
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./level)
Target: One creature
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: Fortitude negates
Spell Resistance: Yes

The subject, along with all its carried gear, turns into a mindless, normal tree. If the tree resulting from this spell is damaged, the subject (if ever returned to its original state) has similar damage or deformities. The creature is not dead, but it does not seem to be anything other than a normal tree appropriate to the terrain and climate in which it is transformed.

Only creatures made of flesh are affected by this spell. It cannot be used in an environment that would not support trees.

Material Component: Bark, water, and earth.

Roots of the Great Wood
Transmutation
Level: Drd 5
Components: V, M
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Short (25 ft. + 5 ft./level)
Target: One creature
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: Fortitude negates, Will Partial
Spell Resistance: Yes

The subject of this spell along with all of its carried gear, turns into an average looking tree or plant of the type whose roots you used, gaining the subsequent type and abilities though retaining their mental stats. If they are in a locale that would not support such plantlife (such as a desert) they gain a +4 bonus on the save. If the subject fails the fortitude save and becomes a plant they must then make a will save or lose 1d4 int/wis/cha every hour (with a save for each new hour). If they pass the save they retain their mental abilities at the level they are, and do not need to make any further saves. If they continue to fail and any of these three abilities is reduced to 0, they become a normal tree and all of their mental stats is reduced appropriately.

This spell can be removed with break enchantment, remove curse (of the level of the caster or higher), limited wish or wish / miracle.

Oh, thank you so much!! It saves me the trouble of changing it myself. :w00t: I hope WotC publishes it in a future sourcebook someday so future gamers won't have the same trouble. :)

Thanks again!!

EDIT: Sorry, Draxo, I must have still been typing when you posted. Thanks for your help too!!
