A Spell to change a PC's type [Archive] - Wizards Community

One of my PC's, a Human Wizard 15, wants to become a Changeling (Humanoid, Shapechanger). Now we are pondering possibilities.

Polymorph is not doing it. PoA might do it, but there are issues with "gaining the new forms intelligence score", which could happen to be the average for a Changeling. Then there is Wish. Problems.

Q1: Does PoA qualify to change a Human into a Changeling permanently, along with Minor Change Shape (su)?
Q2: What happens to the human bonus feat/skill?
Q3: What's his Int score afterwards?
Q4: The Duration is still permanent. Can we make this instantaneous?

A4: I guess this rules PoA out.

05-17-06, 07:56 AM This is generally done by taking either a prestige class or a template. However, if you wish to do it with a spell, forget about Polymorph.

If forced to use a spell instead of taking levels in a prestige class/template, I would allow it to be done via a Reincarnate or Wish spell (Or a Miracle cast by a priest whose god is the god of Changelings only if he had earned a reward for doing good things for the God).

Doing it by spell means he loses ALL benefits of being human, including the feat and skill points, and accepts everything about the changeling, including bad things.

If he does it by prestige class/template, it might allow you to keep the old human things you had and even possibly avoid the bad things about changeling. But doing it that wazy means you have a greater number of levesls in the template/prestige class till full conversion and/or a lesser number of normal bonuses (+' to hit, saves, etc.)

05-17-06, 08:27 AM There's a ritual in savage species that uses wish to do this, and the PHB2 has options for charachter rebuilding, which you could talk with your DM about. It could be used to do the same thing.
