| DemonMonkeyBoy02-05-04, 04:28 AM | A Touch Attack (type) Energy on a Weapon. I’m thinking of allowing weapons that have an elemental energy on them do damage with a touch attack. That is just the energy damage, no weapon or str damage. As I read the ability description this would not be normally allowed. So there should be some kind of cost involved. I realize this would most likely only be used by classes with a low BAB, but I can’t decide on a fair price. Here are my ideas so far 1, A flat price increase for each energy type. Maybe a 1000gp. 2, a +1 and it affects all types. 3, increase each energy type to a +2 Now the main abuse I can see happening is a weapon with 3 or more energy types being able to do a lot of damage very quickly. So considering everything, how would you price it or would you just not allow it? |

Cannot harm Undead, Constructs, & Objects The weapon gives off light in a 20’ radius. Strong Trans 16 Craft Arms & Armor Gaseous Form Continual Flame +4 --------------- Passing through armor is very similiar to a touch attack. (I think the only difference is Natural armor bonus?) It's a +4 enchantment, so the effect you described with no drawbacks like cannot harm undead, constructs or objects is a +5 enchantment.... basically, you are making a jedi lightsaber. |
| DemonMonkeyBoy02-05-04, 05:42 AM | :b: Thats not exactly right. Brilliant Energy you get your full weapon+str+feats to get damage. I'm suggesting just the elemental damage, nothing else applys to damage. So were talking 1 or 2d6 maybe more depending on the game. I'm probably wrong, but that does not sound like a +5 ability. |
| adiaven02-05-04, 12:12 PM | ahh, ok. missed that part. I would make it +3, since it's better than a burst weapon, but not as good as brilliant energy. A full BAB character is most likely going to make all of her attacks with this weapon (unless it's a high dex/dodge/deflection target) so while the damage is low, it will add up fast. |
| Inigo Carmine02-05-04, 12:34 PM | I would also add the specific stipulation that you don't get any sneak attack damage either. |
| DemonMonkeyBoy02-05-04, 10:59 PM | :b:Maybe I’m underestimating the usefulness of this. I really didn’t think it should cost that much. So how about this: Elemental Touch This ability can be placed on a weapon that already has an elemental ability, like flaming or frost. This ability will allow the wielder to do just elemental damage to their opponent with a touch attck. If there is more than one type of elemental energy it only applies to one type. The wielder may choose which energy to use as a free action. This ability may be applied more than once to allow more than one elemental energy at a time. I’m still thinking this should be worth a +1 EQ. If you think I’m wrong please give me your price or how, if possible, make to a +1? |
