Ability Rip is a spell from Serpent Kingdoms, that has the Sarrukh-esque mechanic of taking any supernatural ability from a living creature, and giving it to another. The catch is that the recipient of must permanently get rid of one supernatural ability or 2 HD/class levels. Seems like a fair trade.

But what grinds my gears is that the recipient has to give up something that can be regained with much effort or something gone forever, yet the spell lasts for only 1 hour/caster level. After that, the recipient loses the gained supernatural ability.

I'm thinking of a view ways to change the spell...

1. Change duration from '1 hour/level' to 'permanent'.
2. Allow the spell to be made permanent by permanency.
3. A wish or miracle can make the spell permanent.
4. Other.
5. Do not change duration, have the lost ability/HD return when the spell ends.

Which of the five options do you thinks works the best?

But seriously, I think the lost abillity should return when the spell ends (I might not understand the spell correctly though).

Good thinking, I'll edit my first post so this is included.
