OK, here goes a simple question, Can a single ability e.g. Strength be increased by more than 1 magical item (e.g. gauntlets of ogre power +2 & belt of giant strength +6 to a total increase of +8) ?

Both items grant enhancement bonuses, so they do not stack.

bet you played AD&D, 1st or 2nd edition :) They are both enhancement bonuses as said above. Same type of bonuses do not stack

Well yes, I did play AD&D 2nd edition. I guess I just never caught the part in 3rd or 3.5 that said this changed. Oh well. I've been playing like that since 3rd came out. Apparently, they do not stack. :weep:

Bet you got that idea from neverwinter nights pc game. That's erronous. Enhancement bonuses always supercede each other. They never stack.

Well, they never stack unless the particular bonuses specifically state that they do. Which is possible, though I don't know of any actual examples. If spell X and spell Y both granted enhancement bonuses and the text of spell X said "this bonus stacks with the one granted by spell Y" they would, indeed, stack.

So "never" is overly strong.

I though that on these boards, "never" came with an invisible tag at the end stating: unless otherwise stated.

You'd just need to design a piece of equipment that grants a different type of bonus. In terms of strength, size bonus if very common.

damn you NWN's for taking so many hours and imbuing the minds of thousands with such delusions of granduer.
