| tianshuz02-27-05, 09:23 AM | v.3.5 player's handbook table 1-1 shows that the bouns spell basis on the int. But what is "get one bouns spell"? Does it mean "you can learn one more spell which means add one more spell in your spells-book" or "you can cast one more spell" or "you can prepare one more spell"? thanks for helping! ;) |
| Natalis02-27-05, 09:40 AM | Bonus spells are added to the available spells per day. So if you have a wizard with an INT of 17 at first level you can cast 2 first level spells instead of one. (The sorcerers class description explains it better than the wizards does I believe...don't have my books with me...) |
| ehrin02-27-05, 09:43 AM | it means you can prepare or memorize and cast one more spell of that level per day, if you meet the ability prereq. |
| tianshuz02-27-05, 09:45 AM | It does help! thanks :) |
| Moon-Lancer02-27-05, 09:49 AM | so wizards dont get more spells known? |
| BW022202-27-05, 12:18 PM | >so wizards dont get more spells known? Not based on that table. A wizard doesn't know any spells. She has a spell book which she scribes spells into. She prepares spells (fills slots each morning) from the book. A 1st-level wizard begins with all 0-level spells (except those from oppositing schools), plus three (3) first level plus one per point of intelligence bonus. Thus, a higher int will allow a wizard to begin with more spells in their spell book. However, a wizard can scribe spells which he has found on scrolls into his spellbook. So int isn't as much of a factor before 1st-level as luck in finding arcane scrolls and gold during ones adventuring career. |
| ehrin02-27-05, 01:41 PM | also note that sorcerers do not get more spells known either... they are stuck with the table as is. bonus spells allow more USE, not more knowledge |
