Hi all,

Can I use Moment of Prescience on an initiative roll?

Would it be reasonable to give the surprise round to the character(s) with Foresight, when under other circumstances there wouldn't be a surprise round?*

*Kinda like the Strike With No Thought ability of the Iaijutsu Master (OA)

Thanks

It says AC, opposed ability or skill check or saving throw so I guess initiative is out.

Isn't that how the spell works? If you're opponents are unaware of you, you always get to act in the surprise round. Or are you asking for an exta surprise round?

Well... the best example I can think of would be the case of an enemy who teleported in...
Would it be reasonable to assume that foresight would give you a 'surprise' round before the teleporters showed up or a surprise round after the teleporters showed up but before rolling for initiative?

One assumes that this foreknowledge of the teleporting party in question would come as a vision of their arrival a few moments before it occurs, in which case you yell "Incoming Ts" or some other equally brief code phrase equivalent to "party or parties unknown harboring hostile intentions are extradimensionally translocating into our midst," in which case either no-one gets a surprise round (if the caster knows there will be hostiles at his intended destination), or everybody but him gets a surprise round (if he thinks he's teleporting into a safe zone).

Initiative is an ability check based on dexterity.

You can debate whether it's opposed.
