| LordArchaon10-29-06, 09:50 PM | The invocation would prove incredibly flavourful for one of my NPC, but what does it mean that you can stay in that form for half your warlock levels? If the invocation can be used unlimitedly I really can't see how could one speak of duration... NOTE: The invocation can be found on Complete Mage, page 124 |
| Worguron10-30-06, 12:10 AM | Yes, you can use it as much as you want (as long as you aren't knocked unconscious while in the hellcat form), but the duration is given there so they could add in the stipulation on what happens if you are knocked unconscious. It is also there for the express purpose of not allowing you to remain in hellcat form forever. The hellcat's invisibility isn't magical in nature, and therefore can't be detected by normal see invisibility and such. They don't want to give a Warlock a free pass through a place, so they put a duration on it. |
| Damned slayer10-30-06, 12:16 AM | just cast back that invocation before it goes out and makes you lose 1round every lvl/2 so you can use 9rounds out of 10 at lvl 20 or 4 out of 5 at lvl 10 |
| LordArchaon10-30-06, 01:20 AM | Ok, just as I thought... One more question! Being a polymorph effect you shouldn't retain any of your class features or special qualities/attacks, right? But what about already active invocations!? :) |
| Sephiroth Do'Urden10-30-06, 04:44 PM | :bump: I need to hear the answer to this one... |
| Worguron10-30-06, 05:43 PM | just cast back that invocation before it goes out and makes you lose 1round every lvl/2 so you can use 9rounds out of 10 at lvl 20 or 4 out of 5 at lvl 10 Sorry, but no. You can't use your invocations while in Hellcat form because they are part of your class features which you can't use in that form. Your existing effects would persist (kind of like how spell effects don't disappear just because their caster dies). The invocation changes your form, but if you were "Devil's Sight"ed beforehand, you would still have that effect on. If someone else cast "Eagle's Splendor" on you in your normal form, you would still have the effects of it on you if you turned into a Hellcat. |
| LordArchaon10-30-06, 11:14 PM | Ok, so... Hellspawned Grace: a great and flavourful invocation to become an invisible cat and use "at best" (at least...) your already active powers... Maybe just to escape from a fight... The pity is that every x rounds you will return to your original form. That's the thing that make the invocation loose a little of credibility, but for the rest... It's ok Good for a NPC, like the one I'm making right now for my campaign... Although I don't think I would take it as a PC! The really little duration being the worst downside. :weep: If anyone finds some good uses for this invocation, please post them here! |
