| mushraeddur07-04-05, 01:08 PM | ok, i'm new to the forums here and to version 3.5. I have a 4th lvl sorcerer who plans to become a spellfire channeler. I have a couple of questions: 1. the book says you can absorb spells targeted at you. does this mean you can choose to absorb a spell you cast (rather than accepting its affect) that has you as the target (ie. shield)? I'm not trying to abuse the system, i'm just curisous...as i actually forgot about the spellfire feat i had taken, but thinking about it...i have not been the target of a spell as of yet either. I feel as though i have not been able to use this feat for the past 4 levels, though i do realize i will be the target of spells as i progess in levels. I have read on the boards that many complain about the non-adjusting 20 DC. when i first read this in the book...i thought wow, that's pretty high, but then after trying to research the boards, I quickly discovered that at higher levels this is not good at all. Apparently, many (not all) posters say spellfire should have been updated with version 3.5 by giving it a DC + 1/2Hd..etc. Again, i am new to this version and admit ignorance. So, here's my second question: 2. should i discuss the lack of utility spellfire will offer me in the high game? and if so, what would be a general starting point regarding updating this? I really like the idea of spellfire and such, as it seems to fit the sorceres non-studious understanding of magic(if that makes sense)...i just don't want my sorcerer to give up time and experience if the spellfire channeler is going to be subpar..especially if i have the disadvantage of being hunted (whoever it is that is hunting those with this ability). thanks for any support you give. |
