ive asked a few people about this and i still either dont agree with it or dont get it, or both. in MOF it says "a spellfire wielder can ready an action to absorb spells targeted at her as if she was a rod of absorbtion" So that was explained to me that i need to make a ready action which means im wasting a round just sitting there waiting for a spell to be fired at me, i cant attack back while waiting. The reason this is confusing me is because in dmg1 for the rod of aborbtion it says, " this rod acts as a magnet, drawing spells or spell like abilities into itself. the magic absorbed must be a single target spell or a ray directed at either the character possesing the rod or her gear" It doesnt say anything about having to ready an action and sit there and do nothing, from what i gathered from that its saying as long as the rod is in ur hands any single target spell or ray will be aborbed if u want it to. So with that being said since a spellfire wielder is essentially a rod of absorbtion, i would think that maybe not full 360 degree coverage of absorbing spells would apply, becasue what you cant see coming at you cant be absorbed so spells fired behind u would hit u still cause u didnt see it coming, but at the very least if you can SEE the spell coming at you in ur line of sight and its goign to hit you, for me logically speaking, it would make sense that you should be able to absorb spells that you can see coming at you as a free action and still be able to do a standard action.

i mean to me what im saying makes sense, i am new to D&D mind you, but with the way i presented it, it makes sense that way. any thoughts?

"a spellfire wielder can ready an action to absorb spells targeted at her as if she was a rod of absorbtion"

Basically, that says that you have to take a ready action to absorb a spell. Once you take that ready action, you act like your a rod of abosrption until your next turn. After taking that ready action, you don't have to take any additional action to absorb a spell, and you don't need to see (or even be aware of) a spell to absorb it, it just has to be cast at you.

OOOOOH!, so yes i have to blow a round waiting but if nothing is fired till my next turn its still in effect until im hit with a spell, then in the mean time i can attack all i want.

also once i have absorbed do i have to reactivate it or is considered "ON" for that encounter?

No. A ready action only stays in effect until either 1) The action is triggered, or 2) Your next turn come up; whichever is sooner. So if you ready an action to abosrb a spell, and no spell is cast on you, you need to take another ready action on your next turn if you want to attempt to absorb spells again.

If memory serves, spellfire absorbed in this way lasts for quite a while. Instead of readying actions in the middle of combat against enemies, why not have a friendly mage just fire a few wand blasts at you on command? That should allow you to build up a decent reserve without any risk.

Have someone else play a pixie warlock or grab a cohort and carry them in your pocket.

1. Absorb the unlimited warlock powers as a Spellfire Channeler.
2. ???
3. Profit!
