How long does it take to activate a spell from scroll when the spell takes longer then one standard action?

Is it a standard action or is it the casting time of the spell?

Found it RotG article - using magic items part 2.

And the answer you are concluding from that article?
(I've seen folks argue both answers, quite passionately, and even effectively).

I did not know this was an issue.

In the DMG, on pg 213, under the headung USING ITEMS, the last paragraph (just above spell completion section) states:
"the casting time of a spell is the time required to activate the same power in an item, whether it's a scroll, a wand, or a pair of boots, unless the item specifically states otherwise."

In the Rules of the game article mentioned above, this is verified: "If the spell contained in a spell completion item has a casting time other than 1 standard action, that is its activation time. For example, a scroll containing a summon monster I spell has an activation time of 1 round because that's the casting time for the spell."
