| Pathanus01-18-04, 03:36 PM | Does a shield (buckler, light, heavy, tower) made of adamantine grant damage reduction, and if so what DR's correspond with the type of shield? Path |
| Pathanus01-22-04, 08:31 PM | Ok so i guess it's obvious that sheilds are not classified as light/med/heavy armor for damage reducing, so i guess the only point for them to be constructed out of adamantine is to prevent sundering. Path |

Don't forget that an adamantine shield is also a bludgeoning weapon, and can thus be used to Sunder while ignoring any Hardness less than 20... -Hyp. |

Or to lay the beatdown on a creature with adamantine DR. <gets image of a dwarf using a heavy shield 2-handed to beat a prone monster to death> (and no, I don't think you're allowed to use a shield as a two-handed weapon). |

| Seeker9501-22-04, 10:57 PM | But as for the original question -- an adamantine shield does not provide any DR. It provides a shield bonus. The same shield bonus as any steel shield of the same size. Ironically, the text mentions that that shields can be made of adamantine, but the table does not offer a price... unless you would treat it like the bashing weapon as suggested by Hypersmurf (a very good suggestion, if you can afford it. Shield bashing is fun!) |
