| JiCi05-14-06, 09:00 PM | The duskblade has a limited mumber spells, mainly evocation spells, but unlike the warmage, it cannot learned them all at once. I was wondering if it would be possible, as well as reasonable, to add spells from other books to the duskblade's spell list. What do you say ? |
| TalRave05-14-06, 11:05 PM | I think in all fairness, some spells at least from PHB should be usable... I know I thought I missed something about the spells they get... kept flipping back and forth. ^_^ |
| serow_#R05-14-06, 11:25 PM | i'll say no to wraithstrike |
| Karak_Nechot05-14-06, 11:28 PM | They do get PHB spells. The spell list is on page 24. It's just listed wrong in the Spells section. I would definately keep a very tight leash on any additional spells that you give them. I feel they are already a very potent class with just the small amount of spells listed. Giving them much more would be troublesome. |
| Malakai_Demonos05-14-06, 11:51 PM | I am whole heartidly against giving the duskblade access to any more spells. The class's most potent ability in my opinion is the ability to blend spell and sword. But, they can only use touch spells, of which they don't have very many at all, let alone the best ones. However, give them access to the more potent touch spells, like the ones from spell compendium, and you will break your game. Take combustion for example, 2nd level aracane touch spell that deals up to 10d8 fire damage with no save. And that would be against everyone he strikes that round, and nothing is stopping him from two-weapon fighting that I can see. |
| Xavon_Wrentaile05-14-06, 11:55 PM | If the duskblade doesn't know all her spells automatically like the warmage, I'd say add more spells to her spell list. (Of course, I should qualify that by saying I let my warmages alter their spell list slightly at first level. They can change 2 spells of each level, subject to my approval.) |
| risner05-15-06, 01:46 AM | What do you say ? I wouldn't. They had the chance to state which spells from which other books were on the list. They didn't add any, so I wouldn't add any. |

| Colyn_Kell05-15-06, 12:11 PM | If you really want the Duskblade to have more spells, just take extra spell. I think the list is actually very well thought out, and balanced for what their supposed to be able to do. |
| tarkin05-15-06, 01:05 PM | Ah, but they hardly ever bother to do that anyway, and they never mention spells from setting splats. Some of that is done on purpose. There are basically two types of casters: Pure caster and non-pure casters. Pure casters (Clerics/Druids/Wizards/Sorcerors) get a lot of spells. Non-pure casters have a MUCH restricted set of spells. They don't get many spells and should not expect to. Extra spell is innapropriate - it is not supposed to let people take spells that are not on their list. (Otherwise Wizards would take Otto's Irresitable Dance as a 6th levle spell because it is on the Bard list). Instead what you should be doing is RESEARCHING new spells. If you want a new spell, write one up and offer it to the DM. |
