This thread is about the Shadowcraft mage from Races of Stone and their ability to create partially real illusions.
I'm thinking of playing one in the future and I fear that someone might play one in my campaign in the future. This because I don't know how to rule a lot of things.

Shadow Evocation, conjuration and later shades have some specific limits as to what they can do. In short they let you "mimic spells" of certain levels.

But with the diffrent image spells, what can you do with them?
You can create a massive pit below anyone's feet. Create a rain of razorblades, conjure massive siege engines, the list goes on.

I don't want to provoke a knee-jerk action from any of my DM's and I don't want to knee-jerk my players out of the PRC either.
In short what I want is: A basic system that I can apply to keep these illusionists fair and happy whilst at the same time keeping my game playable.

My understanding of it is that the ability enables you to mimic any evocation or conjouration spell by using an illusion spell of at least one level higher, not that you make the items in any illusion you choose real.

Check the examples, he uses Silent image to mimick an Acid Splash.

Hope this helps

Ah I see, I misread the entry. That should keep it easy enough.
