I have a question concerning which squares to include in a line spell(like lightning bolt). The PHB reads any square the line passes through. The picture shows all 4 squares touching the target intersection as included, yet the line only passes through two of them. Is there something specifying an exception for the squares adjacent to the target intersection, or should the rule read "any square the line touches". Using touches would mean a straight shot down a cardinal direction would be 10' wide because both rows of squares would touch the line.

Just trying to get it straight.

Thanks.

Touches. The PHB illustration's caption says it better than the body text: "All squares through which the line passes or touches are affected by the attack."
