| Neo_Leviathan10-21-04, 05:01 AM | What do you people think is the best PrC for a Sorcerer? To make sure you're thinking in the right direction, I'm going to be the only mage support in the party, the "heavy artillery" so to speak, so I need a PrC that gives full Spellcasting Progression. I was thinking Mage of the Arcane Order, what do you think? |
| argorond10-21-04, 05:13 AM | Mage of arcane order is allways good choice, Incantrix is very nice too, but might be better for wizard. (Its in player guide to FR) |
| RaspK FOG10-21-04, 06:56 AM | See the Arcane Channeler (http://www.community3e.com/dn/pclass/Arcanechanneler_classic.doc); I find that with a couple of adjustments (like getting Spell Burn III at 7th level) it's a pretty neat class. |
| Seeker9510-21-04, 08:41 AM | Great question for the Prestige Classes (http://boards1.wizards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=526) board |

| carnivore10-21-04, 09:01 AM | book of exalted deeds shadow craft mage from races of stone is also very good shadowcrafter from underdark is good too :D |
| Neo_Leviathan10-21-04, 09:03 AM | Grrr, I *knew* thered be somethign in BoED, but I dont have a copy, wonder if any of my mates do... |
| carnivore10-21-04, 09:06 AM | from players guide to faerun spell singer is nice also :D |
| edsonaoki10-21-04, 09:21 AM | Mage of the Arcane Order is 3.0, and I personally think you should expect it to be reviewed before taking it (probably it will appear on Complete Arcane), because if you take one PrC and later it's seriously nerfed (like what happened with the Master of Shrouds and Shadow Adept), you may regret later. Here are some good choices: Incantatrix (PGtF) Shadow Adept (PGtF) Shadowcraft Mage (RoS) Archmage (DMG) Divine Oracle (CD)* * Requires cross-class skill ranks. Consider taking the Education feat at 1st-level in order to qualify for them. If you are considering 3.0 PrCs: Elemental Savant (T&B)* Mage of the Arcane Order (T&B)** Guildmage of Waterdeep (PGtF) Exalted Arcanist (BoED) * Requires cross-class skill ranks. Consider taking the Education feat at 1st-level in order to qualify for them. ** Requires Arcane Preparation feat. My personal favorite one (for a sorcerer) is Incantatrix. For the small cost of being unable to cast spells or use items from a single school of magic, you get access to loads of bonus metamagic feats, plus improved metamagic and instant metamagic (which alllow the sorcerer to use Quicken Spell). |
| Mr.Waesel10-21-04, 10:01 AM | Celestial Mystic (BoED) is okay. |
| Will Brandiman10-21-04, 10:06 AM | If you are considering 3.0 PrCs: Exalted Arcanist (BoED) Just to be pedantic, Exalted Arcanist (and indeed the entire BoED) is 3.5 |
| Zherog10-21-04, 11:33 AM | There was a Prestige Class that appeared in a copy of Dragon called The Eldritch Master. It was a fairly flavorful class with decent abilities. I forget what copy of Dragon it was in, though. for reason, 289 is coming to my mind - but that may not be right. |
