If my character is flying 60' up in the air and he wants to use lightning bolt on someone on the ground, do you just calculate the angle of the bolt trajectory to see if it hits others standing next or near to the target? Is there a sorce for this info?

If I am flying and want to use fireball on a creature who is also flying does the spell still act in the same way?

Help por-favor....

For Lightening Bolt: That's tricky 'cause you're talking about filling up 3D volume instead of flat 2D space. Maybe use a square map for such situations, placing your character 60' (12 sqaures, at 5' per square) away from his foe's position on the map, and treat the distance between them as vertical instead of horizontal?

For Fireball: It will spread out in all directions. I'd make a paper coutout of a 20' spread and use it to measure out to anyone "near" your target. If the coutout touches them, they're hit.

Hope this helps!
