| Seeker9510-21-05, 01:42 PM | Bring him up in the church of Pelor and brainwash him into believing he can be good. If he is already evil (as is suggested by the MM alignment entry of "often chaotic evil), then there are no existing core spells or items to do this. However, in previous editions, there was a helm that acocmplished this very task. A DM could easily allow such an item to exist. A player could also ask his DM if he could research it. |
| IMarvinTPA10-21-05, 02:01 PM | The book of Exhalted Deeds has a nifty spell called: Sanctify the Wicked ('http://www.imarvintpa.com/dndLive/spells.asp?ID=4880'). It takes a year (duration in a diamond), but the result is a good creature. And you loose a level. IMarv |
| Jaid10-21-05, 03:38 PM | well, the average orc is CE. in order to make him the opposite alignment, why not try:Helm of Opposite Alignment This metal hat looks like a typical helmet. When placed upon the head, however, its curse immediately takes effect (Will DC 15 negates). On a failed save, the alignment of the wearer is radically altered to an alignment as different as possible from the former alignment—good to evil, chaotic to lawful, neutral to some extreme commitment (LE, LG, CE, or CG). Alteration in alignment is mental as well as moral, and the individual changed by the magic thoroughly enjoys his new outlook. A character who succeeds on his save can continue to wear the helmet without suffering the effect of the curse, but if he takes it off and later puts it on again, another save is required. The curse only works once; that is, a character whose alignment has been changed cannot change it again by donning the helmet a second time. Only a wish or a miracle can restore former alignment, and the affected individual does not make any attempt to return to the former alignment. (In fact, he views the prospect with horror and avoids it in any way possible.) If a character of a class with an alignment requirement is affected, an atonement spell is needed as well if the curse is to be obliterated. When a helm of opposite alignment has functioned once, it loses its magical properties. Strong transmutation; CL 12th; Craft Wondrous Item, creator must be 12th level; Price 4,000 gp;Weight 3 lb.as far as making someone change to an opposite alignment, i would have thought people would have come up with *the* opposite alignment item. i mean, it's right in the core rules, and it's right in the name of the item that it makes you go to opposite alignment... you will also note that this is: 1) faster than waiting a year. 2) probably cheaper too. 3) available to anybody with 4,000 gp and a little time. failing that, you might also try the spell atonement. but that has to be willing, which this does not. also, in the BoVD, there is a spell called mindrape. i believe it allows you to change the target's alignment. although that probably doesn't help you, because it's an [evil] spell, which good beings should not be willing to touch, and shouldn't know either. it's also much higher level than required to make the helm/cast atonement. |
| Iver Gearsham10-21-05, 03:41 PM | Helm of Opposite Alignment in the 3.5 DMG in cursed item section costs 4,000 gp. Complete Arcane has Programed Amnesia a 9th lvl spell that can change alignments. Bvd has one as well. |
